Just want to say thank you to Allan Bergman and Faye Manaster for your

help regarding the my stepson's medicare eligibility and card. We

have a new card on the way. Tony moved into a group home in January

2006 then in April he was moved to a different home with higher

functioning individuals. The manager of the group home didn't change

his address with Social Security. Since the same person supervises

both homes and the checks went to the bank apparently thought it

wasn't important. However, as a result the Medicare card kept being

returned to SSA.

His mailing address for SS is now our mailing address and we will see

things get proper attention. We were doing this anyway because the

home couldn't seem to keep track of things like SSA notification

letters and bank statements. In Lake County a guardian must annually

provide the court with a detailed accounting of financial management.

I pulled my hair out this year (1 Apr 06 to 31 Mar 07) trying to get

all the information together even though all year we regularly

reminded the group home agency what was needed. Bank Statements,

Social Security statements etc now come to us. That was a battle, but

we won.
