Guest guest
Hi All--I just remembered some side effects I had with IVIG--If I forgot the Tylenol and Benedryl before my home infusion I would get nauseated and vomit about 5 minutes into the infusion. The nurse would stop or slow the rate and then restart and I was fine. I've gotten about 10 bags of IVIG since 2005 (mostly for ITP) and ONE time I had the most severe pains in my knees that lasted about 2 days. One doc speculated it was an immune complex reaction of some sort in the joints but never said what it was. Before my transplant I asked if having had so much IVIG before the transplant would cause problems-- the hem/onc said "it wouldn't help" so I assumed he meant it could cause problems with GVH. Sometimes I wish I were more educated about immunology!!!! I've been getting IVIG post transplant about every 2 months for low IGG. It really helps my sinus drip and healing of cuts but I think it's to prevent pulmonary infections-I'm still on Singulair, Albuterol and Advair.
