I am VERY happy and excited for you!!

Hi My Stills Family-

I have great news, I have been hesitating to e-mail or even telling anyone

because I am afraid is won't last. But here it goes... I AM PREDNISONE FREE.

It has been two weeks and I am feeling good. I usually have chest pain when I

drop past 10mg. But WOW it was so easy to get past 10..9..8..7..6..5. Then I

waited and slowed down only dropping a mg every month or so. And here I am. It

has taken me 7 1/2 years to get off Prednisone. And I know that someone is

reading this and thinking I hope I can be Prednisone free one day.  You can

and you will. Don't give up. I know that this isn't forever. I will have a

flare one day (hopefully not soon) and my Rheumy will put me on 40mg. But for

right now I am soooo happy.

I still get my Remicade IV's every 8 weeks and I know that this is the reason I

was able to decrease and stay down. I just wanted everyone to know. Everyone

here has been so comforting and helpful, I won't been able to have Stills and be

sane without you all.

Love and Support,

Keri,

I am so excited for you. I  do hope things continue. My daughter is suppose to

start Remicade around the first of the year and has been weaning off Pred. for

some time. She is now on 5mg from 20.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Hi Keri,

So great you are off the prednisone. I am actually on a pack, 5 days I

guess... then we shall see... hope it doesn't cause me weight gain, can't

afford it in that area....

Can you tell me what symptoms the Remicade helps? My worst symptoms are the

fever and fatigue, followed by pain of joints

thanks,

Jo

great news I have been free of it for years now. I did have to get off it

faster then you and when I was on remicade i was still on it big time. My Ra has

a few time talked about having me go back to the roids but so far we have stayed

off it. I hope not to ever return but if needed I will . I can say it has not

always been easy for me but the side effects of it just made it a need to deal.

for any one thinking or planing on also doing this with there Predasion please

please do not do this on your own ! only do this with your doctors help and full

working with you! always remember what works for one person dose not mean it

will work for you the same as each of us are as different as the snow flakes

that fall. no two alike at all close but never the same .

Hi all:

I have a quick question about using prednisone to shrink

swollen lymph nodes. First off, I am not debilitated by

swollen lymph nodes yet, from time to time, have a few in my

neck and under my jawline that pop out a bit (noticeably)

and just, well, bug me. They came on in the first place

after an exposure to a virus in February that I felt mildly

but never got sick from. Still, my lymph nodes went crazy

and then subsided once the illness went away. What I have now

are the residual ones that pop out every once and awhile. I

am also on W/W.

My GP has suggested I take prednisone to shrink them down.

Again, they are not painful and they don't bother normal

function. Thoughts? side effects? dosage?

Thanks in advance.

jason

Re: Prednisone to shrink lymph nodes - ask your

hematologist. Your GP may be very good, but this is a

question for someone who knows CLL. When I end up with

laryngitis with a concert coming up it's the first thing I

want and my GP doesn't see it as an issue, but my

hematologist does not want me on steroids unnecessarily and

her definition of necessary is different from mine in this

type of situation, but I go with her advice.

My Oncologist has given me the *Medrol* Dosepak, which is

also known as methyprednisolone, starts with six pills (24

milligrams) and takes one fewer each day, until the pack is

finished. I have had good luck with this to shrink my neck

and under chin lymph nodes. He gave me this at Christmas

time and then again in March. My nodes really don't bother

me just the odd swelling and people who don't know my

diagnose asking me what is wrong with my neck. I was in

remission since 1994 until last June my WBC jumped up to

65,000 and I am on W and W.
