Guest guest
Thank you Tracey for your reply. I will take your advise. I can't stay long time under the sun, I have figured that before. I have been working in my office full time and don't have time to go out. So I am taking three days off to chill and go to the beach. It is easy for us as we look normal that we go back to our workaholic habit. I have been given a treatment for D vitamin prescription and my doctor will evaluate my condition in 30 days. Thanks again. T -------------- Original message -------------- From: " Tracey " <traceyincanada@...> Hi , I would be very cautious about going in the sun while on gleevec. There are much safer ways of getting vit D that won't put you at an increased risk for getting skin cancer and if you still insist on getting your Vit D from the sun, it only takes 10 mins of exposure to get the vit D you need (and should be done outside of the peek UV times which are between 10am and 4pm). You may want to look up the archives when we discussed this a few weeks ago. If you put " tanning " in the search box on the main page of this site, you'll see the discussion that ensued. Also, there's a good site here http://www.merck.com/mrkshared/mmanual/section1/chapter3/3d.jsp that talks about VitD deficiency. In the treatment section, you'll notice that they don't even mention going in the sun as a treatment option. Tracey dx Jan 2002 and white as ghost from 4+ years of Gleevec but doing everything I can to avoid getting another cancer which means staying out of the sun. > > Hi to every one. I had experienced the last two month severe fatigue and bone pain so I blamed it on Gleevec (400 mg) as usual. Finally I decide to ask my doctor who find out that I have a vitamin D defficiency which cause the fatigue. Did any one had the same problem while on Gleevec and what treatment did you go through? I have a prescription for Vitamin D and calcium treatment and my doctor asked me to stay under the sun as much as possible. He will see me in one month. > I hope you all have good summer so far. I am planning to head for the beach as my doctor recommend. Another reason to enjoy. Life is good. > > T > dxd 1/03-Gleevec 400mg > CCR 7/03 > >
