Guest guest
I had wondered about this.......what did they day when you told them you weren't vaccinating her? Was it a big deal? What state do you live in? Thanks.
Guest guest
I've been receiving WIC since I was around 5mths pregnant. They thought I was whacko from the first visit when I told them I wanted a homebirth in water (didn't happen)... but, they know I don't get Calista vaccinated and I never have any problems. I go in every 3mths for her check-ups and they continue giving me WIC. Alison AP SaHMommie to beautiful, breastfed, non-vax, co-sleeping Calista, born 2-13-99. Guest guest
I thought that you had to have your child vaccinated for WIC. I live in Florida and WIC told me that every 2 months when I come for checks - I have to bring her immunization card. We are going off WIC very soon, anyhow...but I am curious. Thanks! Guest guest
They asked a good bit of questions... at the time I hadn't done as much research and I told them I was going to hold off until she was at least 2 years old... now, when I go in, they say, " still not vaccinating? " and I say, " yes " ...and that's it. It was kind of a big deal at first... but, they also wanted me to get a rubella shot while I was pregnant!!! So, they remembered me saying 'no' to that...so, it wasn't so bad... plus, there's only 2 RN's there, and they both know me well now. They saw that I wasn't making this decision uninformed and that I am fairly intelligent and that I deeply love my baby...so, they respected my decision... as a matter of fact, I went to this ped. for my baby when she had those seizures and I only was asked on the last visit with him about vaccinations... the other times he never asked... his nurse would but that was it. And the ones he was trying to convince me to give her were the Hib and Polio. Well, when I went to the Health Unit (WIC), I talked to one of the nurses, and she said that the Hib wasn't going to do any good because she was already one year old... so, in other words, they were telling me to forget about the Hib vaccine! I thought that was cool. We live in Louisiana. Guest guest
Not here...I'm in Louisiana...I don't know if that makes a difference or not... all that this office has done is tested her for anemia and lead poison...that's it... when we go, they check her height and weight and give me the vouchers. Guest guest
Please excuse my Canadian ignorance of American acronyms, but what is WIC? Thanks, AmyF
Guest guest
You might try listing all the vaccines and writing your acknowledgments of what " authorities " claim it is good for. Then you could hand out copies to whichever bureaucrat tries to waste your time with condescending questions. glk On Thu, 22 Jun 2000 14:25:55 -0500 Alison P LeBoeuf <alison73@...> writes: > They asked a good bit of questions... at the time I hadn't done as > much > research and I told them I was going to hold off until she was at > least 2 > years old... now, when I go in, they say, " still not vaccinating?
