NOTHING should be used routinely on eczema - homeopathic or allopathic. All of them can suppress the condition and drive it deeper into the organism. I was just reading my chart from when I was a baby - my mom gave me a copy. It said it had eczema but that it went away when summer came and the wool clothes came off! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand wearing wool now - it is terrible for me!!!! To think as a poor little baby I must have been itching constantly! I wonder why my mom put me in wool when she also has a wool allergy. Guest guest
Dena, A lot of skin conditions result from a lack of Biotin production. Biotin is a by-product of your healthy bacterial flora that is native to your body. It functions in the manufacture and utilization of fats and amino acids. Without Biotin, body metabolism is severely impaired. If your healthy flora balance is interrupted through antibiotics (even during labor affects your baby), biotin production is hampered. Most people have heard about biotin in relation to healthy hair, skin and nails, though little focus has been on Biotin as a whole since it is naturally produced in the intestines by gut bacteria. Yet, there are few in Amercia who can claim to have never been touched by the long arm of antibiotics, through drugs, soaps, mouthwashes, etc.. It is only when healthy gut flora are affected that biotin production suffers and candida overgrowth can occur. Biotin is *very* safe and no adverse reactions have been reported from taking biotin or taking high doses of biotin. And it has been successfully used in the treatment of type 1 & 2 diabetes (biotin is necessary for the enzymes that are needed to properly digest and utilize sugar). If you are breastfeeding, you can take biotin suppliments to also benefit your child through your breast milk. I had extremely positive results with my son who had severe cradle cap. Cradle cap is another indicator of Biotin deficiency. A lot of people mistakenly associate cradle cap with cleanliness - which it has nothing to do with. It is a symptom of compromised healthy flora and biotin production. You can also check into acidophilus/bifidus and other friendly bacteria supplimentation for you and your child. There are supplimental sources out there formulated specifically for children. And you can go the natural route of biotin containing foods. The best dietary sources of biotin are cheese, organ meats (I don't personally believe in eating organs though) and soybeans. Good sources are cauliflower, eggs, mushrooms, nuts, peanuts, and whole wheat. It should be noted that raw egg whites contain avidin, a protein that binds bioin and prevents its absorption. So you may wish to make sure that you don't eat food sources that contain avidin when you choose to take biotin suppliments or eat biotin containing foods. Also, you can boost friendly bacteria through yogurt and buttermilk. I like to recomend Brown Cow yogurt out of Antioch, CA since they are all natural and actually taste *very* good. Far better than Stoney Fields. But most Brown Cow yogurt is sweetened naturally with honey or maple syrup, both of wihich you need to avoid for your child before the age of 1 since they are vulnerable to botulism spores which adults are immune to, but babies are not. BC does make plain yogurt that is unsweetened too and I like them for carrying both yogurt made from whole milk and non-fat yogurt. Anyway, I hope this info helps. Biotin supports skin health, acne, allergic type reactions, etc.. Even if it doesn't directly help the specific condition, there are no side effects and it can only benefit you and your immune system. And it has been used in Candida Overgrowth therapy with success as well. Also, of course, focus on replacement/supplimentation of healthy gut bacteria will also boost biotin production. Guest guest
I haven't a clue as to what this is. May I just reiterate....Please do not use creams and topical application of anything for skin eruptions. You are suppressing the toxic rejection from the body by doing this ....whether it says " homeopathic " or not.... stay away from this stuff. Guest guest
I have heard this said by many people, but something has to be put on it. If I do not put something on it, her skin will dry up, crust over, peel off and then she will have dark and light patches (she is black) all over her body. When she first had an outbreak, we did not put anything on it and that is what happened. She scratched her face all the time, which spreads infection. She is only 4 months old. All she understands is that she is in pain. And also, she has this condition that when she has a long crying jag, she will start doing this involuntary breath holding thing. The doctors do not know what it is. We are getting an EEG done to figure it out. I am not trying to cause her any anxiety. Also since I started using creams and diet elimination she has never looked better. If someone can give me a better option, I will try it. >From: " phyllis " <georgic@...> >Reply-Vaccinationsegroups ><Vaccinationsegroups> >CC: " Vac_Homeopathi List.com " <Vac_HomeopathicListonelist> >Subject: Eczema in a six month old.. >Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 21:57:28 -0800 > >I haven't a clue as to what this is. Guest guest
My son had eczema at the same age. He is completely cured of it now. I used Lavender Oil from the Essential Oils on his skin and Gave him 5 drops of Blackwalnut Root Extract from Natures Sunshine 2 times a day. Now it didnt work right away......but over time it went away. I would not use any other lotions or such due to the fact that it just will irritate the skin further. Good Luck! Love, Gori
