One point that Dr. Shippen makes in his book " The Testosterone

needs to have a very active sexual ability and activity, then the

body no longer deems it necessary to continue to keep the body alive.

It is mother nature's way of getting rid of all the old " no longer

able to reproduce " people. -------

That is absolutely remarkable. While at my lowest point before

finding HRT that worked, I developed an appetite loss - it seemed

like too much trouble to eat or drink nutritious foods. Also had a

strange aversion to being touched and the really bizarre symptom was

a recurring vision, strangely not unpleasant, of lying out on the

desert as a skeleton with the sun bleaching my bones.

I reached the conclusion that this was indeed my body signalling me

to leave the important resources for the younger members of the herd

and to go off by myself and die.

I *must* get a copy of that book!

, welcome sweetie! Tell us a little about yourself. Where

are you from? Do you have hobbies or interests? I am a very proud

single mom & grandma, I have kids from 29 to almost 18. I'm an old

school Jesus Freak! I love antiques and " junk " shops, vintage clothes

& jewelry, cooking, reading, and especially studying the Bible. I

have psor. arth, fibro, and " overlapping diagnoses. " whatever that

means. makes me sound like a patchwork quilt, which is probably not

too far off! I am so sorry you are hurting, and any time you need to

talk or rant or whatever, I'm in and out of the group several times a

day unless work is crazy. You will find a lot of wonderful supportive

people in this group and more information than I have found anywhere

else to help us stay current on medical advances. God bless & hang in

there.

Hello again, and thanks everyone for the kind words. Like i said, I

am 23, i live right outside of Philadelphia. I work at the software

company SAP America as a contractor for IT support. I went to the

Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Now, i live at home

with my mom and sister (20). I enjoy spending time with my friends,

music, watching sports, going to the gym. I have 2 young nephews,

Jack 2 and Charlie 8 mos. who are by far my favorite two people in

the world. Jack is my godson and we have a very special

relationship :)

The pain that I experience started a few months ago and i thought

nothing of it at first, as it would only affect one or two joints

about once a week. Just recently it has worsened to the point of

constant pain all say, and espcially in the morning, which i am sure

all of you are familiar with. it takes me a good amount of time to

get out of bed in the morning. I am waiting for an appt with a

rheumatologist but for now i take 600 MG of Motrin 3X a day, and go

to the gym to keep active.

Are there any other tips or ways of coping that you all have come

across? I know in the morning a hot shower will usually loosen me up

a bit, but i am still a mess trying to get out of my car after my 40

minute drive to work.

Sound familiar to everyone?

Hey! Welcome!! I live in NJ where do you live? Stiffness is a terrible

problem!! Hot showers defiantly help and heating pads. But what really

helps in winter is a heating blanket in between the sheets. It does help

in the morning. At least for me!!

Hi :

Welcome to the group - sounds like you are in a good

place with your family all around you. Keeping limber

in the gym is a good idea - if they have a pool there,

water exercises are very good for the joints. I, too,

have trouble getting started in the morning. Most of

the time, I get up about an hour before I want to,

take a pain pill, and then go back to bed. By the

time the alarm goes off, my pain pill has started to

work, and I am usually pretty good to go. A hot

shower is a definate must though. As for your drive,

40 minutes in the car is a very long time in one

position, and if there is traffic this just ads to the

stress. My husband has a back massager that works off

of his car cigarette lighter, and it fits onto the car

seat so he can drive in comfort. It heats up and has

three massage speeds for the upper back, lower back,

and thigh areas. Maybe something like that would help

you too. When is your appointment - hope you don't

have to wait too long - let us know how it goes -

Hi ,

welcome. glad you found our group! hope it will help. we do

understand. it must be hard trying to raise 2 children when you are

in so much pain. :(

Now that they finally " discovered " what you suspected (pa) will they

add any meds to help your pain and slow down the disease? Like

methotrexate or one of the newer ones like enbrel?

hang in there....you have found a good place for help.

best wishes,

marti

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. I hope you can get what you are looking for from us.

You will certainly get the understanding you mentioned, that's for sure. No

matter how well intentioned our friends and families are, they could never fully

know what this disease does to us not just physically but mentally too.

You sound as if you have had a rougher time through the years than most of

us could say we had. You sound as if you are very strong in the way you have

dealt with it all up until now.

I hope this group helps you in some way. Just " talking " to other people who

can identify with what you are saying can make all the difference.

Hope to hear from you again soon,

Welcome to the group. You will find a wealth of information and support on

these sites. I know just getting diagnosed is a very scary and uncertain

time but trust me those feelings change into hope and faith in the new drugs.

Keep a positive attitude and outlook. You have a lot to be thankful for.

I was diagnosed just last May so I know more recently then some of the old

timers, yet good timers, how fresh those thoughts are, as I still struggle with

them recently. People on this site offer great support and advice. Take

what benefits you.

Maybe it would help you to share how you were diagnosed and what you are

currently doing medically. Lets us know what is going on with you and what you

and your doctors plan is. Stay involved!
