Guest guest
Dear All I am currently working on a report on sex work in Asia for the World Health Organisation and am looking for new information. The report is a background paper for discussion at the bi-regional (SEARO/WPRO) meeting on condom promotion in high risk situations. It will take place in Ha Noi, Vietnam 13-17 August. I expect to have the report completed by the end of June. I'd be really happy to hear from sex worker projects and NGOs on their perception of the industry in their own area. I am especially interested in the following things: Has the industry changed in recent years? Is there more or less trade? In what types of establishment/locations do sex workers operate? Has the location of sex work sites changed compared with 5 or 10 years ago? Where do new entrants to the profession come from and has this changed? What is the typical age profile of sex workers in the area? How would you judge the power and independence of sex workers in their dealings with clients? Have you seen any changes? What are the perceptions of risk in relation to HIV amongst sex workers and their clients? There are probably many other important things I haven't included here... perhaps you can tell me what they are! I don't know if the report will be published. However, I will make my findings available in summary on the site. Please can you email me at T.L.Brown.jpn@...
