and Friends,

Long ago I decided that if I was going to donate to the cause of finding better tx, a cure or give assistance to people with leukemia and CLL with the limited funds I have, I would give those dollars to a group that would give us the most for our hard earned money. My personal decision was that CIG was at the top of my list. With the info we get from the newsletter the mother organization sends, I see that it truly goes to real and promising research. What could be better? I also like the fact that there is research going on in related lymphomas such as Mantle Cell which has really been treated as an orphan disease too with little research and tx. for it.

All this said, I also realize that people may also like/admire the work done by another group and this ends up being a personal decision so we have to kind of recognize that.

I do feel that the work has put into the CIG and this list is so EXTREMELY helpful and Critical to our well being and the fight for better treatments that there is no way to adequately thank him. Ditto for Dr. Furman.

Last night, on Public TV I watched a special called "Blood Detectives". It followed hematologists/oncs. at Weill Cornell and it gave a good picture of the clinicians and patients fighting the good fight against blood disorders including CLL, AML etc. Dr. Leonard was featured. It is worth watching if it is shown in your area.
