Guest guest
Can anyone explain to me what you mean by log reduction? I've seeen this and I'm not sure what it means. I was diagnosed in August 2005 at Mayo in Minnesota. I just talked to my doc at Mayo the other day because I feel like my local onc doc doesn't know what to do with me. He keeps telling me that I'm not " behaving " normally. He has another person in his practice that has what I have and after 3 months on 400 mgs of gleevec she was in remission. I jhaven't even came close. He also keeps telling me that the gleevec works too well for me. My white count and anc are always too low. He has played with the doseing and has even taken me off but when he does this my platelets get too high. I'm scheduled to go back to Mayo in March for another bmb. My doc from there told me that when they did a fish test in August 98% of my cells were leukemic. When I had another fish test done in October it was down to 3%. So is that some kind of log reduction? If I were resistant to the gleevec would my white count go high again? I've also been told I was sensitive to it. Is there a difference between being resitant and sensitive? I'm just getting nervous about going back and having another bmb done, that they're going to tell me something bad again like when I was first diagnosed. I feel great, I haven't felt this good in about 3 years. They tell me that that's good. I always think they're lieing to me, I guess I'm a little paranoid! I'm only 37 and have a great family and I'd like to be around for a few more decades! I honestly think I know more about cml than my local hemo doc. I'm jsut glad to be going back to Mayo. I told my husband if I didn't like what they told me that I was going to go see Dr. Drunker. So once again it's just a waiting game for me. Thanks for listening!
