Guest guest
Hi Everyone: I am fairly new to the group and once again asking about experience, this time on tumor flares. I saw my local oncologist who diagnosed me and then went to Dana Farber who accepted me into the Revlimid/Rituxin trial. I'm still waiting to get a definite appt time from them and in the meanwhile based on everyones comments, decided to see Dr. Furman next week to get his expert input. I had one tumor flare a few weeks ago, left axilla. My local doctor prescribed zithromycin and a patch of 25mg fentalyl (sp?). Yesterday a recoccurence started and I'm finding the patch not very effective. Is there something else I should be doing or a different med? Do people take courses of antibiotics frequently? I am thinking of calling him for another script tmrw. How does one handle this? I'm feeling quite panicky and overwhelmed.. Thanks for all the help and support. Guest guest
Lydia, Tumor flares should only occur in response to treatment with certain agents, most notably lenalidomide or thalidomide. They should not happen spontaneously. The possibility of an infection causing painful and tender lymphadenopathy is always a possibility.
