Carolyn,

Are you taking any of the ACE drugs for high blood pressure? They are notorious for the ability to inducing coughs.

I am considering having chemo, after four years ofw & w, to see if it can help me with my cough. I wouldappreciae hearing from people who have found chemohelped get rid of a cough and also from people whofound it caused a cough. Thank you for responding Dan. No, I do not take ACE

drugs now. But I did take Vasotec at one time and it

caused a dry hacking cough. Mine is productive of

losts of sputum now.

Carolyn,

I tried to follow the trail of comments, but I probably missed most

of them. There are many reasons for someone to have a cough. Two of

the more common reasons that are often overlooked are post-nasal drip

due to chronic sinusitis and gastroesophageal reflux disease

(heartburn). Both irritate the pharynx and cause coughing. It is

most important to determine the cause so that it can be best

treated. Chronic sinusitis is a common problem in CLL patients

secondary to the hypogammaglobulinemia. There are many locally

directed therapies that would be preferable to try first. I do

utilize IV Ig in very difficult cases. I hope this helps.
