Hi - I think the advice you received was fairly uniform, so there must be something to it.

Most folks will disagree with me on the following.

I am a firm believer in exercise (wish I did more), a healthy diet (have not had red meat in eons, salads all the time, usually organic), no smoking, I do drink moderately.

BUT, having said all that, I think we are involved in a game of Russian Roulette. It'll get you, or it won't get you.

Also, what I do believe in, is familial cancer, and environmental causes. My mother had multiple myeloma, and I'm told two of my great aunts died of "blood cancers". (I cannot establish this for sure, of course.)

So, don't be surprised that it hit you and not the fat couch potato next door :-)

-, I agree with you wholeheartedly! I am also a firm believer in lots of exercise, healthy diet that includes lots of fresh veggies, of course no smoking, low stress, sleep, fun & relaxation & moderate drinking. Honestly, I'd drink more if I tolerated it better! And I did all this for years before getting CLL.

That being said, I always wonder if it has REALLY made any difference. Except for a few cases with a common denominator, it just seems that it's the luck of the draw, at least at this point in time with the knowledge we have.

Doen't seem fair but we all know about life not being fair, so at least we are helping make our bodies stronger & more resilient; it's got to be beneficial on some front.

Ha. If it's any consolation, not all of us couch potatoes dodged the CLL bullet.LonFrom: "jb50192@..." <jb50192@...> Sent: Thursday, July 2, 2009 2:32:25 PMSubject: Re: What now? -
