Guest guest
The phenotype does not change with time. The original diagnosis of SMZL looks correct. The second immunophenotype looks as though the tumor bulk has diminished. The immunophenotype of the small volume tumor is more like CLL though CD22 would be atypical. Possibly there are 2 separate tumors, which is known to occur. See what happens next time. Now in 2010 , seeing the immunophenotype, i said that the CD5 is expressed.... at my surprise, the doctor said that maybe in 2005 the lab did not get the antibody.... I apologize if it is a silly question, but does the immunophenotype change a lot with time? Does it relate to prognosis? Thanks in advance for any comment...... karla
Guest guest
Certainly they can. But both can be very benign. If I saw your husband's counts for the first time today I should call it MBL (CLL-type) Terry Hamblin MD In a message dated 03/12/2010 16:02:22 GMT Standard Time, rapaccini.carlo@... writes: Do you mean that SMZL and CLL can be two separate disease entities in the same patient? Is it bad for the patient? And yes, the tumor bulk has diminished, in 2006 my husband has splenectomy and then chemo (capox regimen) for a secondary solid cancer (colon cancer). Since then, he was stable with good blood counts, currently white cells are 9290 and lymphocytes 5340. karla > > The phenotype does not change with time.
