Guest guest
Am a CLL'er since 2005, FCR Jul-Dec 2009, CLL in PR, MRD+ at 4 CLL cells per 10K white blood cells. Was diagnosed with (secondary) prostate cancer in Apr 2010. Am currently receiving RT and monthly shots of leuprolide acetate (Lupron) for PCa. Lupron suppresses serum testosterone, which leads in turn to loss of bone mineral density (BMD). Treatment for this adverse effect is a regimen of weight bearing exercise, and Vitamin D3 and calcium to counteract BMD loss. Also have had recurring squamous cell carcinoma over the last year, treated with Mohs surgery and several smaller excisions. Avoiding sunlight is part of the defense, so supplementary vitamin D3 is also part of this scenario. I am taking 2800 IU vit D3 and 1700 mg calcium (Citrical), both per day. Dosing of vitamin D3 and calcium must be based on individual circumstances and treatment goals. Tim
