Guest guest
Hello Folks - I thought I'd post about myself once. As I think I mentioned, the blood parasite, babesia, appears to have been licked after a 1-1/2 year struggle. But, I still have low level hemolysis. Who is eating my red cells? The marrow is thankfully able to keep up with it at this time, so my red numbers are lowish but stable. Repeated Coombs testing (not always reliable) says I do not have AIHA. Haptoglobin levels, a good but excessively sensitive test for hemolysis, have been in the cellar since 2004. I simply show no haptoglobin. That says I'm hemolyzing...... Retic counts slightly high, bilirubin counts slightly high, all hemolysis indicators. LDH normal, says no problem. One explanation is that the CLL after all these years just causes it's own hemolyzing, not necessarily autoimmune. By the way, nodes are growing a bit, but that's another matter. No TX at this time, TX worse than doing nothing. Anyone had any similar baffling circumstances? Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.
