Since we deal with seizures on a continuing basis, I thought I would

relate our experience. For years I'd been using CLO for our now 22

yr old. We used it topically at first because it made her so

irritable orally. She had upper arms and back full of chicken skin

that never did clear on it. She was 16 before I could get anyone to

do an EFA profile-no I didn't know about Direct labs then. She had

omega 3's off the wall high, cis and trans. EPA and DHA were also

elevated. Down in the pit was GLA and LA[omega 6's]. The supplements

recommended for this included, soy, borage and EPO. All were related

to increased seizure activity when I tried them orally. She does

tolerate EPO topically and after several months of this, the chicken

skin went away. We still do it topically. If we miss a few days the

skin symptoms begin to appear again. Her GLA and LA levels upon

measuring have come up slightly but still are quite low. The topical

EPO has not contributed to any seizure activity or any 'pre-seizure'

irritability[very bad behavior by others' observation] that I can

see.

Hi ,

Thank you for sharing your experience of EPO and CLO.

I've not come across topical EPO or CLO - where do you get it from?

You've mentioned that your daughter's Omega 3 were " off the wall " - any

reason why or had you been supplementing her with EFAs?

Also the " chicken skin " you've mentioned - was this itchy? I'm asking

this because N. had a very itchy rash all round his neck when he was

5yrs and we thought it was eczema and now he has an itchy rash on his

chest and it does look like chicken skin if he hasn't itched it. I

wonder if it is the same as your daughter's.

thanks,

emily

I was made aware today that, presumably under pressure form the insurance industry, a proposal is on the table that EPO (Procrit, Aranesp) would be paid for ONLY if your HGB is below 9, and then only for 12 weeks.

Have any of you heard this? If it's true, and if it takes place, we (CIG) should make a hell of a loud noise......Such a rule would border on manslaughter.......(Forgive my emotion......)

Worse than useless information. No source, no documentation, no other specifics. Stirs everyone up without any more substance than any random rumor.
