Guest guest
My 72 y.o. husband has been treated for CLL for the last 15 years and has had many complications. He has had FCR approx 8 yrs ago and had a good remission for 5 yrs, then Campath around 1 1/2 yrs ago. He has AIHA which was tx. successfully this period with high doses of Prednisone and titrated down several times during these years but this last episode they had to keep him on 10 mg. to keep it at bay. Recently blood work indicated that he was spilling protein into his urine and referred to a Neurologist. The kidney biopsy indicated the he has Membranous Nephropathy which is a secondary problem caused by the faulty Speen and CLL, they recommended a spleenectomy. He had the surgery at a Cancer Hospital approx.1 1/2 wks ago and discharged but ended up back in a medical hospital because of water retention, low blood pressure 70/40 and a HG 8.0 He is currently receiving treatment to remove the water from his system. His blood pressure continues to be very low and they may have to transfuse him but they are reluctant because of the many past transfusions that left him with many antibodies. I guess what I am asking if anyone has had this type of kidney involvement with their CLL and was was the treatment and outcome.
