Guest guest
Tammy - 234 and 248 are basically the same number, and a nice number at that. The small drop would not concern me. But I would be puzzled about easy bruising with a nice PLT like that. Fatigue, in my case, is caused by low HGB. How are your red numbers? I think I would mention the phenomenon to my hematologist, if I were you.
Guest guest
PS: Bleeding gums would concern me less than the bruising. There are dozens of reasons for that, your dental hygienist can tell you.
Guest guest
Dear Tammy, I have very healthy teeth and gums as I am fastidious with my teeth since childhood. However, I suddenly a couple years ago had the same thing, bleeding of the gums out of the blue? So I had an immediate CBC and I found that my WBC and my Neuts were both at or near 0 ! So I immediately got a Neulasta shot and that brought both those counts up and the bleeding went away. Meaning that the mouth as we all know harbors a ton of germs and bacteria and if the natural defence system is low, the WBC and the Neuts, then all hell can break loose in the gums. I'd get an immediate CBC and also go see the Onc and the dentist. Good luck, Kurt -------------- Original message -------------- From: jb50192@... Guest guest
Tammy is a puzzler - good PLT, good RBC, we have not heard about her WBC yet. Kurt suggested neutropenia as a cause for the gums. But the bruising? Check with your hem, seems odd.
Guest guest
Thank you for your response. What could be the causes of the bruising? Is it not part of the CLL? My RBC 5.02 in October. Thanks, Tammy Re: bleeding - Tammy Tammy - 234 and 248 are basically the same number, and a nice number at that. The small drop would not concern me. Guest guest
My WBC was 20,000 in October, and Neutrophils was 32 Tammy Re: bleeding - Tammy Dear Tammy, I have very healthy teeth and gums as I am fastidious with my teeth since childhood. Guest guest
Tammy, The cause of both bruising and bleeding is a low platelet count (under 140). Platelets aren't red blood cells and they are counted separately. Andy RE: bleeding - Tammy Thank you for your response. What could be the causes of the bruising? Is it not part of the CLL? Guest guest
Everything seems A-OK, but the bruising makes no sense. I'd have it checked out.
Guest guest
Dear Tammy, You know all we can do is guess and offer up remote possibilities, but as said, your Hem OC is the only guy or gal that can really help you. However, one more remote possibility that will definitely cause bruising is Liver damage or Liver problems going on. That most likely wouldn't be possible however as I'm sure your doc had tested you with special liver Lab tests recently. If not and they can't find anything else, then you should surely have the liver functions checked asap. All these things are truly leading you right back to your doc and if yoru doc doesn't thoroughly check all this out, I would get another doc. Bruising is not something to play with. The cause could be something that could easily cause internal bleeding, which was a big part of my own fathers recent death. Any bruises seen on the outside of the body are a definite sign of something possibly very serious going on. I hope you find the cause, Kurt -------------- Original message -------------- From: "tammyfannincad" <tammyfannincad@...> Thank you for your response. What could be the causes of the bruising?
