Guest guest
Dear Henry, I had experienced that long before I was diagnosed with CLL, but I only get that feeling if I am sitting down for a long time with the same position, so I guess this must be a different thing. regards Chonette
Guest guest
Henry,I never had a problem with joint pain and arthritis until after my first treatment. My first treatment was rfc in 2001. I read on the paper on the rfc trial, that rituxan causes arthritis. I gained 25 lbs from rituxan infusions in 2002. It was fluid in my tissues. The fluid finally went away, in about 6 months. The arthritis and joint pain, is very much still there. I think some can take rituxan and never have any problem with it. Hope this has helped. Guest guest
Hi Grandpa Henry, I have had a lot of stiffness and muscle pain but have had no chemo as yet. The best explanation that I have received is that when you have cancer your immune system can become over alert attacking your own body and causing inflamation in the joints and muscles. Just before I was diagnosed with Sll I was going to have a knee replacement, but the final preop tests showed that my arthritis might not be osteo. I have been to quite a few doctors at this point and they all agree that I have some type of inflammatory arthritis but cannot agree on the type or what to do about it. I have found some relief by acupuncture and not eating anything in the night shade family such as, tomatoes, potatoes, egg plant, or peppers Carole from Vermont Watch and Wait dx January of '04>>> hmristic@... 9/15/2006 4:09 pm >>>If anyone can help me out with this I would appreciate it very much. In checking with a few folks that I know with CLL/SLL not everyone has a problem with stiffness in their joints or muscle aches. I started getting these aches about a month after I ended my CVP+R Chemo treatments (May 2006). I asked my Onc. Dr.'s nurse about this and she said it is brought about from the Chemo drugs. Is this correct? Anyone else having these problems? Will this get better? Thanks for your support and any information that you can share with me.Grandpa Henry

Guest guest
Hi folks, I too have muscle/joint stiffness and aches. I was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica last year, a few months before my CLL dx. It's an autoimmune, inflammatory disease and though there's no experimental evidence, I suspect that there's a connection somewhere.
