Hi Shari,

Sorry to break the news, but you were misinformed.

PCRU means PCR Undetectable. The result would have to be 0.000000 to be

PCRU.

[ ] finally pcru !

I just received my test results back from MDACC from my appt. Jan.9th.

All of my bone marrow tests were mormal. And my pcr test was 0.01

which the physicians asst. was pretty sure that was as good as

negitive. I had tested 0.01 in Kansas back in Oct. but I wanted to

have that test done again at MDACC. I thought their test might be more

sensitive, but I'm not really sure about that. Either way I am very

happy with those results. Feb. 10 will be my 3 year anniversary so it

did take me a while to get there, but I only had to take 400mg. Hope

everyone is doing well.

Hi Shari,

I'm sorry to say that I agree with Zavie. A PCR of 0.01 is not PCRU.

Most PCR's will go for a few more decimals beyond that such as Zavie

mentioned.

I once read somewhere that some labs consider a PCR of 0.005 to be a

three log reduction (which isn't even PCRU, but a good place to be).

Try not to be too discouraged though as the vast majority of us are

not PCRU. The goal is to get to a 3 log reduction, anything beyond

that is gravy.

Take care,

Tracey

Actually, MDACC says that PCRU is 0.05, so by their standards Shari is

at PCRU. The 0.000000 is what we all want, but I myself would be

rather pleased with 0.05. Congratulations Shari!

But if you have a number (such as 0.05) how can that be PCRU. By its

very definition, PCRU, the U stands for " undectable " . Undectable

means " none " , or " not detected " . If there was 0.05, then there

was " some " , not " none " . I don't understand how MDACC can say

that " some " is " none " .

Just another one of those discrepancies????

maybe they are saying at that level it is a 3-log reduction and a molecular

remission?????

-If you notice in my post I said she said it is almost as good as

negative and that Dr. Faderl considers it a molecular remission. And

I am pleased with it either way. If it bothers some that I said I

was pcru then I will just keep that to myself.

-Thank you Amy, I am very pleased with my results. I hope you hit those

numbers real soon too.

Sorry Zavie but I think your comment was a bit miserable and uncalled for. If I

was at that level and felt so pleased and then received that kind of comment I

would have felt crushed!

Dear Shari,

I am truly sorry that I upset you with my comment. My intention was to

point out that Dr. Faderl's assistant was wrong. We use the term PCRU to

mean molecular remission. Dr. Faderl is one of the top doctors at MD

, especially when it comes to treating patients with ALL. Dr.

Faderl knows exactly what PCRU is and would never say that a PCR result

of .01 is PCRU.

I realize that I spoiled your joy and apologize to you and anyone else

who was offended by my untimely comment.

My information (my husband's PCR is done at MDACC) is the 0.05 is

considered a 3 log reduction at MDACC.
