Guest guest
Hi Sybil - I remember you very well, and even the fact that you joined us because they didn't know where to put you. Sorry to hear that you've had such a rough time, hopefully the allo transplant will ease things. I guess you won't be joining us in LA for the Seminar, but what's more important, right? I join you in being called an unusual case, perhaps even unique. I don't post much about myself, but you may have read that I picked up a blood parasite over a year ago, and nothing seems to be able to get rid of it. (The reason, of course, is the not performing immune system.) Babesiosis is quite common around the East coast (I wonder if it's creeping up your way?) and so I have the best resources at my disposal. I've been through all kinds of lengthy medication courses, and as soon as we stop the parasite comes back and loves to have my red cells for lunch. Borderline anemia all the time. Now, I'm beginning to hear the word "chronic", which is really scary. I cannot find anyone who had treated a leukemia patient with babesiosis. Am I the first ever? Hard to believe..... The thing that I find particularly scary now is that we always hear "you don't die from the leukemia, you pick up something secondary and die from that". Usually they mean pneumonia, or some such thing. I don't think anyone ever thought of a leukemia patient going under from a parasite!! Anyway, there is my little whining for today. I wish you much luck with the transplant.
