Guest guest
Sherry, Have they done a mammogram on your daughter? Maybe something else is going that they aren't aware of? Marcy
Guest guest
I am sorry you are having such a rough time. I have not even had to address this issue since Phoebe is only two, but I will have to deal with it. I know that there are different dosages of BC pills as well as different hormone types. I know some people react badly to different hormones. Is she seeing an obgyn? I believe it used to be Primrose oil but I remeber reading somewhere we weren't supposed to use that with DS? I'm thinking with this SCDiet J is not getting enough good fats. Here is what is happening... ..I tried her on BC pills for17 days. Two days ago she started trying to twist her breasts off (she did this before but not as bad) She is totally out of control, hitting herself and everyone else and digging and ripping at her tiny little nipples till they're red and raw. I've got her on some tylenol and it helps somewhat (she can't take other pain meds due to GI trouble). I refuse to give her one more BC pill. We tried. That's it. I know they want us to wait it out but something is really wrong. She had this weird shivering spell yesterday. This is actually right about the time she would normally be getting her period so I'm just going to go ahead and let her get it. She was on Seasonale... the 90 day pill. YUK. This is why I've always been so afraid to try them. I'm actually considering some kind of psychotropic med or something to calm her down- she is like an animal and I know it's only going to get worse as the period comes on. Someone on the Autism girls list suggested rubbing some progest cream into her boobs to help with the pain?? I don't know but I'll try anything at this point. They also suggested vitex tincture to drink with juice to help regulate her. I remember I used to take it and it worked for awhile. Actually I used to take a frew drinks and it worked just great but I don't know how the docs would react to that....altho she will be 18 in a couple of days. This is horrible to watch and I've gotta go watch it again before she rips herself to shreds. MY arms are all bloody from being scratched. Who knew motherhood would be such fun? Guest guest
Oh Sherry.... I am so sorry you two are SO miserable ! yikes! I know lately here when my period was coming on my breasts were extremely painful too. I can understand her wanting to rip them off if she isn't able to realize why and just be patient till it passes. EPO IS the EFA for PMS. I was thinking maybe Willow Bark or aspirin should be your pain killer of choice right now. It has some effect on prostgandlin production ( sp??) which helps the pain. This sounds way weird, but have you tried massaging her breasts? That seems to relieve pain for me. I wonder if some peppermint oil in olive oil would help the pain, or draw her attention to it? How about a warm pack on them? Or maybe she will just attack you ? I can't think of anything else that helps me.... is she wearing a bra? Maybe added support or a sports bra tightly hugging them would make her feel better. It doesn't sound like she is the mood for much experimentation at the moment.. I do supplement a lot fats for because you are right, there aren't a whole lot on SCD, esp if you aren't doing a lot of dairy or meats. I add canola to her yogurt, coconut to her squash, Emu and Fish oils in a syrienge and then filled the rest of the way with olive oil, which I also sneak in other foods. I wish I had some brilliant idea to help! Hope you find the answer and some relief soon. Maybe the both of you could have a good stiff drink? There are legal ones you know :-) It's would be medicinal for sure. Guest guest
Wow, Sherry, I wish I could help. Sorry you are having to deal with this. My only experience with using a progesterine (cream to rub on) on myself was that it made me argumentative. I stopped taking it for that reason. Shirley--Mom to Josiah who turned 18 2 days ago!!!! I felt much better after I quit. It does not work for everyone. joan
