Guest guest
Thanks so much for the info on the CTs. I've raised this issue with my MD, without any real facts to support me, and now I have em. It kind of puts me in a quandry cause I like my doctor very much, but don't want to continue with the scans. What do you all think about scans and thei rmedical value? I'm not really convinced about the value of so many scans anyway...cause at Stage IV, I feel that my bloods are more telling than lymphs. I had lots of nodal involvement but what really sent me over the edge was out of balance bloods (really low red/platelets, sky high whites). It seems to me that if I'm feeling okay and my bloods are okay, what difference does it make whether my nodes are .5 cm larger or smaller? So I put some in a cup and came in to check e-mail etc. Now with most of the soup gone down the hatch the pain is also gone. I haven't taken the prilosec yet, but I normally take one every night before bed to make sure I don't wake up in the middle of the night with a stomach ache. Interesting...... I would rather it be the stomach than the spleen I guess....? Actually I don't want either. hmmmmm Also, the new article that on CLL Research put out concerning CT Scans definitely causing secondary cancer, according to a new definitive study called " BIER VII " shows that one CT scan has enough radiation to cause later cancer. Then when you multiply that times several CT Scans, guess where that leaves us.........Also one of the main cancers it causes is Leukemia....... Nice. real nice. The report says that we should all have MRI's and Ultra Sounds always unless it's life or death, then have the CT Scan if it's truly needed to save your life only. They talk about why doctors don't tell us the danger and it's mainly because the secondary cancers don't show up for 10 to 20 years later....so they don't feel like it's a danger, it's nokt something they can see and feel and touch now. BUT, perhaps some of us now are having Leukemia from CT Scans we had 10 years ago, especially if we had several of them. Also the Radiology community and hospitals and the special medicine technology manufacturers of course will lose jobs and millions of dollars if this information becomes widespread etc, which it will eventually anyway. The BIER VII Study questions that thinking because it says that the companys and hospitals can use MRI and Ultra Sound instead of CT-Scans, but the switch over can be very costly but the study says, the health of the patient should be the first concern rather than the lost revenue. Interesting study, put it out yesterday I believe. Although I fear it is my spleen, it may be my stomach because I have found that it responds well if before I eat I have a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon. Check it out.
