Hi There, Friends & Family:On Sunday afternoon, March 28th @ 3:00 PM, I have the honor of being one of a whole bunch of Dessoff Choir singers appearing at Avery Fisher Hall to sing Beethoven's 9th. I've never sung it before and I figure everyone should try it once if possible! The orchestra is the Budapest Festival under Ivan Fisher,. It's our last performance with our present director, Bagwell. The concert includes my favorite Beethoven symphony, the Pastorale. Not the most sophisticated but I love it.There's no need to respond to me about this -- Just come if you want to! I'm sure since it's an afternoon concert, some of us will head out to dinner after, nothing fancy.Love-Ellen http://new.lincolncenter.org/live/index.php/gp-09-oaeor:Iván Fischer, conductorMULTIMEDIAA Discussion with Iván FischerWhat will we hear? with Iván FischerBeethoven Then and Now:The Complete SymphoniesIván Fischer, conductorA survey of Beethoven’s complete symphonies, offering intriguing, never-before-heard side-by-side accounts of how these works might have sounded on the instruments used during the composer’s time and how they translate on modern instruments today."Fischer whips up tremendous excitement, but still gives us playing of shining finesse."—The Times (London)Orchestra of the Age of EnlightenmentIván Fischer, conductor These performances are part of the Beethoven Then and Now, Chamber Orchestras, and Alice Tully Hall Pick Four series.Budapest Festival Orchestra Iván Fischer, conductor“On top form, no outfit in the world can beat them for their subtlety and multiplicity of color, spring sparkle and rhythmic snap.” — The Times (London) on the Budapest Festival OrchestraSunday, March 28, 2010 3:00 PM Avery Fisher Hall Buy Tickets Milne sopranoKelley O'Connor mezzo-sopranoJorma Silvasti tenorn Sigmundsson bassThe Dessoff Symphonic Choir Bagwell directorAll-Beethoven programSymphony No. 6 in F major (“Pastoral”) Symphony No. 9 in D minorThis performance is approximately 2 hours, 15 minutes, with 1 intermission.Pre-concert discussion from 1:00-2:30 in the Stanley H.
