Here is how to set up AIM for file sharing. I have 5.9. It's SO EASY... trust me. If I can do it, anyone can. :-)

AIM- How To’s

AIM is a way of filing sharing and an instant messenger. (Instant Messenger- allows you to chat with others- click their name on your buddy list and type). AIM also allows you to share a folder for others to view and you can view the folders of others on your list. It allows you to designate a folder on your computer to share with others. Others will only be able to view that file and nothing else. You will be downloading the files from others onto your computer so be sure to have a VIRUS PROTECTION.

AIM 6.0 doesn’t support file sharing. As far as I know- AIM 5.5 Canada is the only version this works with. Link- http://canada.aol.com/aim/aim55/ (Actually AIM 5.9 also allows file sharing,

Steps-

Download AIM- http://canada.aol.com/aim/aim55/

Follow steps to set- up a screen name

Once you have a screen name- Add people by clicking set- up and follow the steps

Set- up your folder to share-

Click “preferences” at the bottom of your buddy list then “file sharing” on the left. You will see a box that allows you to choose a folder to share

To View the files of others-

Right click their name on your buddy list and select “Get File”
