Guest guest
, just a thought, I imagine that one can have another type of cancer totally independently of having CLL. I am not sure one could call it a transformation if a new cancer happens to afflict us. I really do not know it is just my idea. Guest guest
I'm sure one can have ANOTHER cancer - I guess I was curious whether this would be NEW or caused by or transformed from CLL - Hard to answer.......
Guest guest
I think you and Carolyn are right - not CLL transformed, but different cancers perhaps caused by lowered immune functions. Appreciate your thoughts. Am hoping the best for my friend.
Guest guest
My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer after she was diagnosed with SLL. the thinking was that it was an entirely different cancer and not related to the SLL, but I have always thought that if your immune system is compromised by SLL, it will open you up to all sorts of different cancers. My last trip to my oncologist showed that my nodes have shrunk considerably. I pressed her to tell me about what stage SLL I have and she said that all the staging is outdated and now instead of staging doctors are looking at the molecular markers which determine how the CLL/SLL will behave. >>> ch@... 4/28/2006 4:15 pm >>> , just a thought, I imagine that one can have another type of cancer totally independently of having CLL. Guest guest
Carole - my friend is not doing well, but I think that she has concluded that her lung cancer is independent of her SLL - The question of whether a compromised immune system had anything to do with it will, I think, never be resolved.
