My husband was getting recurrent bronchitis and sinus infections prior to his starting IVIG. He has had none since starting the regimen with IVIG, receiving the infusions when his levels drop into the 400s or lower.Beverly From: rrfurman@...Date: Wed, 28 Apr 2010 14:01:42 +0000Subject: Re: Colds and bronchitis,IVIG

One issues that I think is important to remember is that most patients with CLL (approximately 75%) will have low immunoglobulin levels and most do well, without any infections.

IV Ig is really meant to be used in patients who have a life threatening infection, many recurrent infections, or a chronic infection that they are not able to clear, such as a chronic sinusitis.

His immunoglobulin levels are monitored and when he drops below normal, he receives monthly IVIG for 3-4 months and then rechecked. He receives it more often if there is a lot of flu stuff going around. WE are great supporters for IVIG. Only problem is cost and our share is significant but well worth it.
