Guest guest
Hi, All- I am aware of the additional risk of secondary (skin) cancers with CLL. I was diagnosed with CLL in January of 1998. (Watch & Wait - no treatment, yet) Since that diagnosis, I have had several (3-4) basal and squamous cell cancers removed surgically. Also, many pre-cancerous areas (10) have been frozen. Here's my query: This past week an area of concern was biopsied at the Moffitt Caner Center (in Tampa, Florida). That area is located on my scalp (beneath the hair) and was found to be Basal Cell carcinoma. It is going to be surgically removed in a couple of weeks. Should I be concerned? I have read and studied basal cell and it looks as if it rarely metasticizes. Another note-Three years ago a suspicious area was biopsied and removed; finding: a few cells of melanoma (in situ). Please give me your advice on my situation. Thanks, Dick, in Florida j.syfrett@...
Guest guest
Hi Dick...As says you have to stay on top of it and especially if they find squamous cells.Last April I had Mohs surgery on the top of my head for the first time.Subsequently I had a lymph node behind my ear expand to the size of ping pong ball. That required 25 radiation treatments. Now another one has surfaced on the top of my head so they are doing 5 more radiation treatments. So make sure your dermatologist keeps an eye on things. On 18-Jan-08, at 9:54 AM, Dick Syfrett wrote:Hi, All-I am aware of the additional risk of secondary (skin) cancers with CLL.I was diagnosed with CLL in January of 1998.(Watch & Wait - no treatment, yet)Since that diagnosis, I have had several (3-4)basal and squamous cell cancers removed surgically. Also, many pre-cancerous areas (10) have been frozen. Here's my query:This past week an area of concern was biopsied at theMoffitt Caner Center (in Tampa, Florida). That area is located on my scalp (beneath the hair)and was found to be Basal Cell carcinoma.
