Hi, Stacey,

We all feel devastated when we're given a diagnosis of lymphoma or another form of cancer. I was, but at present I have been four years since treatment and am very well. I saw my hem/onc on 4/8/10 and results of blood tests and physical exam were good. I'm very grateful for those four years...and expect many more, if that is in God's plan.

You will find much help from this group, especially encouragement and information that you can't seem to get elsewhere. Welcome to the group.

Norma Oxley

dx 12/05; tx 2/06 to 3/06 with six weekly infusions of Rituxan. Have been well since 3/31/06.

Stacey, I understand your concern, but I was Dx with SCLL in 2000; have been on

W & W for ten yrs. Feel great.

Never have had treatment.

See MDA twice/yr and local onc twice.

Excercise...enjoy life.

Stacey,

CLL is highly variable and relatively rare compared to other cancers.

What that adds up to is the most important thing is to have a doctor

who specializes in CLL as part of your team. I can't overemphasize how

critical that might be in the future.

There is no rush to fly off the a tertiary center as soon as you are

diagnosed, but you want someone caring for you who has seen a lot of

CLL if you need to consider treatment options down the line, and it

is better to have a relationship with that doctor well in advance.

This is a great place for help

CLLtopics is an another amazing site.

Let me know how I can help.

We are all in this together. Stay strong.

, 58 yr family doc & father of 4, dx 9/05 del 11q unmutated,

CD38+, ITP 9/06 failed steroids, IVIG , Rituxan and splenectomy

controlled w cyclosporin A & Rituxan combo. RIC MUD HSCT July 1/08

was CR w BMB MRD neg. - lost graft w growing nodes at 6 months 2.8%

BM involvement and ITP again at 13 months, CLL is getting worse but

ITP still controlled w IVIG see http://bkoffman.blogspot.com/

Stacey - Be sure to go to lymphoma.org/booklets and order the booklet on CLL/SLL. It is free, or you can read it on line. Don't try to understand everything at once. You probably won't need a lot of the information for a while, if ever, but it is helpful to have a handy guide to  CLL both to help understand posts here and for future reference.
