I would doubt that the odor issue has anything to do with Rituxan, and would think that it is caused by some other factor. Rituxan has some minor problems, but I not believe that could be one of them. Does your GYN know about your lymphoma? Do any of the female members think that there might be a Rituxan connection?

I was not thinking any connection to the rituxon as that was 2 years ago

and I am due for more now. I was just worried that the pseudomonsis could

be problem with the NHL and my immune system would be low. It was a vag

smear done on routine examination by the GYN

I'm not sure what pseudomosis is - is it possibly related to the urinary tract

infection called pseudomonas aeroginosa?

If so, it could definitely be related to rituxan which wipes out the immune

system and also disturbs the bacterial flora, thus potentially causing all sorts

of infections. When (and after) taking rituxan, I've had infections related to

my cuticles (bacterial - staph) and my throat (fungal infection - super painful)

and was more prone to cold sores (viral - herpes). I do understand that

Pseudomonas are a real concern in hospital settings. They can be difficult to

treat in that setting due to bacterial resistance. In the " community setting "

(which I'm assuming you are in - not the hospital)there is a growing concern

over resistance depending on where you live, but antibiotics are thought helpful

against it like ciprofloxacin.

I agree with that you should definitely alert your GYN about the underlying

CLL to ensure that this is no garden variety infection, but potentially even

more serious due to your immunocompromised state while taking Rituxan.

Best of luck!!

I find your doctor's response unacceptable. I just googled pseudomosis and, yes, it is hard to treat, and more of an issue for immune compromised patients, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be treated.I would find a doctor who knows more about your condition and seek treatment - perhaps an infectious disease specialist working with your oncologist.

As for pap tests, the recommendation on more than one site is that women over 70 MAY CHOOSE to not have pap tests done if they have a record of negative tests, however one site suggested that those of us with an autoimmune disorder should continue to have them done. I would discuss this with your oncologist and perhaps look for a new OB-GYN.
