Reply to HIV/AIDS education in schools

Dear Forum members,

It is to inform the forum members that Gujarat AIDSAwareness &

Prevention Unit (GAP) ISRCDE is a non governmental organization

working in the field of HIV/AIDS for the last 13 years and has

6 years experience of working with schools in Gujarat.

Our ongoing programme includes Responsible Behaviour of adolescents,

this programme which consists of 1) Know your body and reproductive

organs 2) Disease of reproductive system 3) HIV/AIDS /STDs/RTIs,

Social responsibilities 5)To motivate the young people become

volunatry blood donors.

The programme is a successful one and have already covered 175

urban schools & 34 district schools. 300 teachers have been trained

and 56 peer educators from different schools have been trained.

The programmeis based on participatory methodologies and with the

application of proper IEC material developed for Std VIII , IX

and X respectively.
