Guest guest
Hi , My husband Larry underwent FCR this year for dx of SLL as well. He tolerated it very well overall. At first, he had a reaction to Rituxan....but they slowed down the drip, which made for a long second day. The next time they knew what to do, so the infusions went along smoothly after that. He received infusion Tues, Wed, and Thursday and got a shot on Friday to boost WBC (neupogen?? dont remember). Saturday was his worst day typically. Fortunately the meds kept the nausea at bay.....if you take it at first signs, you manage it very well. The biggest issue he ran into at the beginning was gout.....there were so many b-cells being killed off that they created excessive uric acid. Since he never had gout before, we didn't know what it was and got caught on the weekend. He was in severe pain and couldn't walk. Once we got the proper gout med, it started to improve immediately. He did not lose any hair, and got in partial remission after treatment. He is feeling very well, although not quite up to his previous stamina. However, he feels much better than he did the year before treatment. There aren't as many of us out there with SLL....so stay in touch, email me if you want to chat, and I will be interested in your journey.
