Guest guest
, since your List Members are on a Group, they can also subscribe to the list I started back in June that deals with CLL alternative therapies, supplements, vitamins, diet, etc. Many of us currently subscribe to the 4 known CLL Lists (i.e. SLL-CLL, ACOR, CLL Research, CLL Alternative Therapies)... Folks can subscribe to our CLL alternative therapies list by sending a blank message to: CLL_Alternative_Therapies-subscribe ... We have about 750 messages out there that can be reviewed by doing a search on a specific topic, i.e. Macrobiotic diet, Coral Calcium, E3Live enzymes, Aloe Vera, Gerson diet, etc... One "shopping list" I had put together, thanks to our members on the CLL alternative therapies group had the following: 1. Macrobiotic Diet 2. Gerson Diet 3. Coffee Enemas 4. Coral Calcium 5. Juicing 6. Stevia and Splenda to replace sugar 7. Organic Blackstrap Molasses (to raise red blood cells) 8. Rooibos tea 9. Acupuncture 10. Manuka Honey (made with bee poison) 11. Tumeric/Curcumin 12. Mannatech.com supplements 13. Graviola (only indirect testimonials) 14. Detox herbs and products 15. Castor oil packs for swollen lymph nodes 16. Kefir 17. Niteworks (?) 18. Several supplements and vitamins 19. Books on self healing 20. Products that boost the immune system (Immunopower?) Since then, we have added at least E3Live Enzymes and the Insuline Potentiation Therapy (IPT) treatment that one of our members, Adam Bush, used effectively to bring his CLL counts under control. This is an extremely interesting story and a therapy that many of us are looking into.... He describes the process in his note No more CLL?! Here's how I did it, step by step... (use this title as a search argument on our site).... I have spoken with Adam several times and he has made a believer out of me on the E3Live Enzymes and the IPT treatment..... Personally, I'm still trying to stave off treatment with weekly shots of Procrit (hoping to downstage my CLL and raise my HGB and platelets)... It seems to be doing something right (HGB moved back up a notch), but I'm trying to manage my expectations... In the meantime, as I've done since May of 2002, I'm taking several vitamins and supplements to try to give my body a fighting chance... I believe that the better off we are physically, the better we'll be able to continue to fight our CLL... My story is pretty well known, as I stumbled on Coral Calcium (in May 2002), which had a tremendously positive effect on me (stabilized my runaway WBC, killed my food cravings and sweet tooth, helped me change my lifestyle and quit drinking, eating sweets and smoking without any effort)... I also experienced a significant "soothing" effect from the Coral Calcium, drastic reduction in day/night sweats, dramatically improved digestion and elimination, improved eyesight, great sleep and no more leg cramps, aches and pains... I guess I must have been pretty bad off before I started to take control of my life.... This got me really interested in the whole area of nutrition and I have now spent 18 incredible months doing lots of research, feeling extemely well and being more active than I was 20 years ago.... I must have had a significant mineral deficiency of some sort and not everyone will react the same way, but this Coral Calcium was definitely a Godsend for me.... Unfortunately, many folks on the ACOR List lashed out at this as a bunch of nonsense, which eventually led to my starting the CLL Alternative Therapies List in June of this year.... Many believe that cancer cells thrive on sugar (and this is what the IPT treatment is based on), meaning that the less sugar we feed our body, the less aggressive the cancer will get.... The idea is to eat lots of alkalyne foods and reduce body acidity as much as possible (sugar will cause lots of acidity, which we can offset with alkalyne foods and supplements such as calcium).... I know that my saliva tested at a pH level of 4.5 (extremely acidic), before I started taking Coral Calcium and it is not at a pH of almost 7.0 (i.e. normal)... None of these alternative therapies will cure cancer in my opinion (except for the extremely lucky exception here and there), but it has become fairly obvious that they can prolong the W & W period for several folks and, therefore, buy us not only time, but quality time... It worked for me and it has worked for other CLLers..... Lately, based on Adam Bush's tips, I started taking E3Live Enzymes... Don't know if it's the power of suggestion, but, as an example, I was up at 4:30am on Thursday, ran around Houston all day, my last business meeting was through at 8:30pm and then I worked on my computer till 10:30pm before deciding to go to bed (and I wasn't even really tired).... Don't think I could have done this 15 years ago, without dragging all over the place during the day and the following day, as I made my body sluggish with big meals, lots of good wine, nice desserts and a full pack of cigarettes...... I'm convinced that if we treat our body right, the body will respond in ways we never imagined (at any age)... My internal organs are now no longer sluggish, since I don't aggravate them with wine, sugar and tobacco, which means that I'm no longer sluggish overall... In fact, my use of supplements (mainly Coral Calcium and E3Live Enzymes) and vitamins coupled with the absence of toxic substances (wine, sugar and tobacco) have a really powerful effect on me (two for one sort of thing).... I eat lots of "living foods", i.e. raw fruit and vegetables that still contain all their vitamins and enzymes (cooking food at high temps will kill these valuable nutrients).... I think the worst invention of the 20th century is the refrigerator, which has allowed food industries to sprawl and pump food with all sort of preservatives and pre-cook and pre-freeze everything... No one yet knows what the long-term effects of all this are, but I think we're beginning to get an idea (and it's not pretty)... I remember when I was a kid and bought food with my mother at the neighboorhood maket every single day.... Everything tasted fresh and was free of all the pesticides we now consume on a daily basis.... In those days there was no such thing as junk food... The world has gone nuts and all in the name of the almighty dollar! The food we're eating is making us obese and causing all sorts of degenerative diseases (with diabetes leading the charge)... I still think one of these days we will see a huge law suit prevail against a typical fast food chain... Who would have thought that this would ever happen with the tobacco companies? Regardless, some of the "side effects" I've had so far, are a loss of approx. 40 pounds, blood pressure of 110/70 (had always been borderline high, i.e. 140/90), a huge drop in cholesterol levels and the absence of aches and pains when I wake up in the morning (while bumps and bruises heal much faster now).... All of this has been accomplished without the usual swings that typical diets bring on... This is a lifestyle change made possibe, without pain, by the Coral Calcium and the other supplements and vitamins I've been taking for the past 18 months.... What's really unusual is the fact that I'm "sick" with cancer and my wife takes more prescription drugs than I ever have (I have not taken any prescription meds since 9/2001, when I dropped the "infamous" Zocor, infamous at least in my situation)... I could talk and write for hours on this subject, but suffice it to say that last week I was out playing basketball (2 on 2) with a trim and fit 42 year-old fellow and his two sons (17 and 16) and we had a great time for almost 2 hours... Since I'm 56, with a high WBC and a low HGB, I was obviously quite pleased with this sort of performance, even though there is no way I could have done this before I decided to drastically change my lifestyle and give my body a better chance to fight CLL..... The bottom line is that the downward spiral had started well before my CLL dx, but for the past year and a half, regardless of WBC and RBC counts, I feel as if the downward spiral came to a screeching halt and reversed itself.... I probably would have given my right arm at dx time, in 9/2000, to have had the kind of good stretch I've had over the past 18 months... The fact that I was able to do this, in spite of what doctors thought or said, makes me feel pretty good, since it gives me a feeling of being in control of my life once again, at least for a relatively short period of time, but it is great to be feeling this way after being miserable and thinking that all hope was lost..... I also want folks on the various lists to make sure they understand that I'm an I.T. Management Consultant and not a Coral Calcium salesman (I've been accused of this, too, in the past)... This note is not an attempt at "self aggrandizement", as I have little to pat myself on the back for, given the circumstances... I'm in learning mode 24 hours of the day and I'm conveying what I've learned, while hoping to learn from others, at the same time... Adam Bush's experience with E3Live Enzymes and the IPT treatment is an example of such extremely valid information sharing.... We need to use the time we have left on Mother Earth to learn all we can and share our knowledge on how to best combat this CLL, since we're obviously not going to get rid ot it.... Except for one noteworthy case (no CLL after 9+ years since BMT), we all need to realize that we're dealing with a terminal illness (now being diagnosed in people in their 30s and 40s), which has been labeled "chronic" to make the whole thing a bit more palatable.... Knowledge is power and we must acquire as much power as we can in this tough struggle.... It would be great if, through these lists, we could "categorize" different types of CLL, based on disease progression and what works best for each (some will get fatigued with low WBC, some will not, some will have low HGB/Platelets and some will not, some will have huge lymph nodes and others will not, and the list goes on).... I think we're just scratching the surface, but it's great to know that there are so many people in all these lists with the same common goals of understanding CLL and trying to survive it best they can, hoping for the magic Gleevec-equivalent pill for CLL to show up before it's too late.... All the best to you and let's keep the discussion going... Walter..... Houston, Texas dx 9/00, alert W & W ("sprinkled" with Procrit)......
