Guest guest
Healthy people are advised to do nothing, and just treat it the same, as though it were a cold or a flu. Rest, hot liquids, symptomatic relief, etc. I have read that immune compromised people should take care if they have elevated temperatures for a day or two, and seek attention. I think that we each have a sense, after much experience, of just how sick we are. I have a supply of Tamiflu on hand. They say to take it early in the game. So if I feel truly lousy and feverish, I will probably begin Tamiflu on the second day. A very subjective thing, no hard and fast rules, we're CLL survivors, dealing with this should be easy. Guest guest
My onc. does not feel that one needs to keep Tamiflu on hand. She said to just call if I do have the flu (she's very good about returning calls whenever), so I check with my pharmacist whenever I'm in to make sure he has an ample supply, which he does. If that changes he will let me know and I will then discuss changing the plan with my onc. Guest guest
What do you do if you travel? We have been many miles from a city with a pharmacy or a hospital. We carry Tamiflu and 2 levels of antibiotic. So far we my husband has had 1 episode of fever/infection when we were far from medical care. The antibiotic saved much hassle and prolonged illness so we have traveled prepared since shorty after my husband's dx in 2004.
