Guest guest
Am I reading this right? I cannot imagine doing such a thing with my typical children. In fact, I would have never signed such a statement at 18. I was ready for independence and freedom. I can't imagine a judge or lawyer or anyone doing this? What am I missing? I have 3 in college but . . . as I understand it, if they get hurt or whatever, it would be no different than if that happened when they are 30 or more. The laws prevail and parents usually are part of the picture --and yes, I know all about Terri Schiavo and will never get over all that but I still cannot imagine doing what you are saying? I've been training my (typical) kids to be independent since they were about two. Priscilla K >>>>>>>>>> Wed Jan 10, 2007 5:22 am (PST) Wow! I never heard of that before, but I see the benefits of doing it. Shirley Re: and the Military Can I ring here? We are taking legal guardianship of our very typical son who will be 18 next year. We explained to him why he needs to sign the papers and when we will reverse it. If, GOD FORBID, anything were to happen to him while away at college we wouldn't be able to make medical decisions, etc for him. So that is what we will do for all of our kids until they are out of college. We are fierce mama lion's aren't we?!?!??! >>>>>>>>>> Priscilla Kendrick, married 29 years to Darrel and parents of 9 kids including Evan, 10, born with Down Syndrome and Spina Bifida " My strength is made perfect in weakness.
