Guest guest
Kk, There could be LOTS of reason for this happening. Given the kids have a 40-50% chance of heart defects, it would make sense. Maybe this little boy has a defect that was undetected, or perhaps he had an electricial malfuntion that wouldn't be picked up easily. Or perhaps he had a repaired defect that messed up the electircal path ways. I have heard of repaired kids who died in their sleep due to an electrical issued caused by scar tissue. This is something that is always in the back of my mind with , and I still check her breathing and heart beating as though I were a first time mom with my first baby. ;-) Carol in IL Mom to seven including , 6 with TOF, AVcanal, GERD, LS, Asthma, subglottal stenosis, and DS.My problem is not how I look. Guest guest
I still do the checking too! Phoebe (knock on wood) did not have heart troubles at birth, but I still have the baby monitior by my bed that when I get paranoid, I can turn it up and hear her breathing. I know that had Hirsprungs (sp?) disease and had a major surgery in November to help correct it. From his mom's posts, he had been having a really hard time feeling better after his surgery. I do hope his family can find peace soon. I know is shining down on them sending all his love. Hug your kids a little bit tighter today. Guest guest
I just have to add......this is one of my biggest fears for Elsey. She has a first degree block secondary to her last open heart surgery. The docs explained she is at risk for cardiac arrest. I realize we have no guarantee each day that any of our children will not be in an accident or some other tragic event. Sometimes that possibility is so overwhelming. Just another reminder to love our kids every day...and to accept each day as a present. Jo

Guest guest
Just a side note, if you give your kids Ginko everyday, be sure to stop it two weeks before they have surgery. Especially tonsillectomies because they tend to bleed allot. Ginko has a side effect that it thins the blood and makes it clot less. For surgery this can be a disaster. It is a great herbal drug but you just have to know the risks for surgery ect.
