Guest guest
Interesting article recommended by " Ideal Lives " KathyR *************************************************** " Assistive and adaptive technology does not " cure " a specific learning disability. These tools compensate rather than remedy, allowing a person with a Learning Disability to demonstrate his/her intelligence and knowledge. " That's the premise of this article from the University of Washington and it's one I whole heartedly agree with. The article goes on to describe the types of assistive devices (both low tech and high) that can help. You can check it out at: http://clicks.aweber.com/z/ct/?2fgJKNEaIpquAPx9HtWCQg One of the programs mentioned was Inspiration software. They offer a couple of programs Kidspiration (designed for K-5th graders) and Inspiration (designed for 6th grade & beyond). Both are software programs that let your child create their own graphic organizers and make the most of their very visual, preferred learning style. While I was reading up on this software program, I came across a great deal! Guess what I found!? You can let your child try this software out for 30 days (cost zero dollars) from the company website But don't buy -- even if you LOVE the software. Because you can pick up the exact same program from the Amazon.com Markpetplace and save yourself $15-20!
