Guest guest
Sometimes you just have to change the way *you* think about it. Does it matter if the kids detect it? All through history kids have had to take meds that tasted awful and did it- because. ) I may have a different perspective having delt with many health issues with and some pretty rotten meds and treatments! ( NOTHING is worse then liquid zantac) What ultimately worked for us was to mix it with the least amount possible of something- cold really does help so try ice cream- Now I just use honey, then mix well, get it all on one spoonful and she takes it wether she likes it or not. And she doesn't like it much. <g> I just get behind her and get it in real fast followed with juice. She DOES like her fish oil though.. blech blech blech.... weird kid. I think the Kirkman's she takes now tastes MUCH better then the NVD and also TONS TONS better then FISH OIL.. BLECH!!!! ptaszekmichele <MDP1116@...> wrote: Hi-My son (4) with DS has been on Nutrivene-D since he was 6 months old. I am having a hard time as of late getting him to take it. Guest guest
I agree. It doesn't matter whether sara likes it any more or not. She has to take it because it works for her. I just say to bad girlfriend open up and then we can go play. SHe makes an awful face, says yuck I high five her and off she goes. I am glad you put it that way with . I not great with words but I do the same thing! I always felt like a meanie but now I don't! Marcy
Guest guest
Tehya is 2and 1/2 now and we've had this battle recently too. My mom kind of gave me the hard love talk, kind of what you were saying Carol, that there are a lot of unpleasant things kids sometimes have to do to stay healthy. Like testing thier blood sugar w/a painful stick in the arm/finger. So the nasty taste of vitamins is not the end of the world. I started putting the vitamins (and it's not the NVD she minds as much as the DHA, it's got a bad aftertaste/bite but she's been taking it since she was 3 months old. I guess her taste buds just kicked in) in cinnamon applesauce w/extra cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. I had a couple of days of mutiny, but I told her if she didn't take it she could just go back to bed (in the am or go to bed before everyong else at night). It took a few times of putting her back in her bed and letting her cry for a few minutes then taking her out and offering her the applesauce. Now she takes it w/only the warning of going to bed if needed. One day she did try and get me to feed it to her doll. I thought that was pretty clever. Unfortunately for Tehya, the doll did save most of it for her. <smile> e Quinlan
Guest guest
WHen Olivia was young we mixed the NTV-d into cooked mashed sweet potatoes. I would steam about 2-3 large sw. potatoes and mash them with some milk (you can use rice milk, but I would not suggest soy milk). Then I would freeze them in ice cube trays. Pop out the frozen cubes and keep them in a plastic bag until I needed them. I would add a small amount of the NTV-d to a cube and give it to her. She never complained and ate it all up. I found that a small amount was easiest to get down. Joan
Guest guest
Hi , Faith is 9 years old and we have used NVD for vitamins since she was 10 months old. There is a powdered form to mix with liquids and an encapsulated form to mix with foods. ette -------------- Original message from "thenorthernwhites" <thenorthernwhites@...>: -------------- I’m considering adding a supplement to Gabe’s diet (to mix in with his 2 tsp a day I can get down him! haha) and want to know what product any of you use with your child. Guest guest
Yeah, you definently start out with a smaller dose at first and slowly increase it to the correct dose. There's this caramel creme sauce that Costco uses in their bakery that masks the taste of the vitamins SO well, but they wouldn't sell us a bucket of it. So, we're going to make it as best as we can with a recipe we found on allrecipes.com called Caramel Creme Frosting. Guest guest
The following information will all be helpful as soon as I figure out which product to start with. It seems there was a 'supplement' and a night formula and a children's formula and.... Do you see my dilemma? Are they all the same? " We are mixing the nutrivene-d in powder form to Jack's food. Guest guest
Hi , I've not followed this thread but the basic Nutrivene protocol is the Daily Supplement, Daily Enzymes and Nighttime formula which can be purchased grouped together or individually. The first line of items on the ordering page are these three grouped together with the Daily supplement either in powder form, microencapsulated powder (taste better) or capsules. You also want to add DHA to this, which is shown further down the page (Nordic Naturals ProDHA in strawberry flavor). Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi , Sorry, I should have been more clear. My first purchase was NCP1 NuTriVene-D Powder Advanced Formula (150 gms.) The cost is $72. It is three products, the daily supplement, the daily enzyme, and the nighttime formula.) I did not have to purchase DHA because, Jack gets formula in his cereal as, I do not pump for him. He also is still breastfed. Dr. L did not feel it was necessary for him. We are not using the enzyme portion because Jack has reflux and this part of the protocol is not called for when the child has reflux. I did just purchase some cod liver oil for him...eew! I think I need to be less economizing --you can tell it is from a fish--I wouldn't touch the stuff, much less feed it to my baby. I think I will have to research a top of the line product. You are not dense... I think the company offers a tremendous quantity of products and it is difficult to find exactly what you " think " you need. I, also, had a difficult time. The product that I listed is for an infant, not an adult. It is the product that Dr. L highlighted for my husband and I at our first appt. Hope this is a help to you. Blessings, Z. > > > The following information will all be helpful as soon as I figure > out which product to start with. Guest guest
Yes, I can understand how it can be confusing and I've helped a few people with this. There is the Nutrivene-D Daily Supplement (Microencapsulated Powder, instead of the regular Powder - the MP doesn't taste as bad), Nutrivene-D Daily Enzyme, Nutrivene-D Nighttime Formula, and DHA (we use Nordic Naturals Strawberry Flavored ProDHA - I'll include the link). We do not use the daily enzyme since my brother has reflux issues.
