Way to go Jodie! That is a real accomplishment!

It sounds like the school is working out well. I look forward to hearing

about more about the Special Needs Consultant and the programs for Jodie.

Please keep us up to date.

Wow that is great!! my son is just starting to say sentences and he's 6 this

month. All kids move at their own pace.. Good job getting into a toddler bed!!!

woohoo, growing up!

Shar

...................

I have to share!! is no longer in a crib. He is in a toddler bed

as of 3 nights ago. For the first two nights, he stayed in the bed

perfectly. Well...last night was a little different. About 2:30 in the

morning he comes into our room. He stands in the doorway and says MOM!

(he never just says it...it is a very distinct, deep voiced, loud

'MOM')...I wake up with a start and see his little silhouette in the

doorway. My husband is snoring loudly, as usual, and never even hears

our little guy. Anyway, I said, " come here, sweetie " . He walks over to

my side of the bed, but stays toward the wall and takes the furthest way

possible to my bed. I said, " what's wrong " ? and he says... " hear

daddy...scared " !!! I am so excited!!!! He has been putting 2-3 word

sentences together verbally for a little while, but it is usually things

like, " more water please " , " up please " , " want apple juice " , " hear dog " ,

which we are thrilled about! This morning, he put together the usual 2-3

words, but he was giving me a bigger concept!! He heard his daddy

snoring and he was scared!!! can you believe it!?!?!

Yea!!!!!!!! Just had to share =)

Hey kent,

I was on a class trip with amanda's 5th grade class to DC also! Only we

went from NY - a one day trip which took 17 1/2 hours. But we went and had a

great time.

will be graduating on Friday the 21st. I feel a little bad because we

will be coming to WV right after grad - like dashing off without a party or

something. so I guess her party will have to be at the suaree!

She is also in a 5th grade performance of the 20th century. Her two dance

numbers are the charleston and aquarius. I saw a snippet of it today and it

is sooooooo cute!

Hey is one bright, sensitive, caring kid. Alot like jesse. I always

say that our kids have the BEST sibs ever!!!!

See ya soon,

Hi!

I need to brag about . Hopefully I won't be too obnoxious.

A couple of weeks ago, I went with Meg to DC with her 5th grade class. We

were walking down the mall towards the sonian Museum of U.S. History.

Meg was down to her last $3.00 and was walking behind me. I happened to turn

around and saw that Meg had been giving a dollar to each of the homeless

people we passed. I wanted to acknowledge her generosity, I gave Meg $6

which she gave away as well. I don't think there are many 11 year olds who

would do that.

Meg had to do a report on someone famous and chose Harriet Tubman. Meg was

talking with Mollie about the book and explained that in addition to being a

guide on the underground railroad she was also a nurse and army scout. Meg

told how while Harriet Tubman was working as a nurse for the Union army and

helping to save the lives of their soldiers when she rode on the army trains

they made her ride in the freight cars because of the color of her skin. Meg

found this to be very offensive. Meg then started telling Mollie that what

she really liked about Harriet Tubman was that not only did she do things

which were unheard of for a woman of color at that time, she did things that

were unheard of for a woman of any color. Next Meg starts telling Mollie

about Harriet Tubman's work with the suffragettes and how a particular

famous statement made by Harriet Tubman was made during a conversation with

Cady Stanton. Mollie asked meg if she included Harriet Tubman's

work with the suffregettes in her report. Meg replied " no that she didn't

want to confuse her audience " LOL!!!!

The 5th grade banquet (this is Meg's last year at Burlington El.) was last

week. won the following awards: Music achievement award, The Cory

Staggs Music award (which comes with a $100 check to be used for music

lessons), achievement in art, an award for being 1 of 2 students tied for

the highest academic achievement in art, a plaque for being one of the 10

students with the highest grade point average in the 5th grade and the

President's award for academic achievement (comes with a framed certificate

and a letter from GWB) which goes to students which had at least a 3.5 GPA

for 4th & 5th grade (Meg had the highest GPA of any student in the 5th

grade).

I'm just so damn proud of her!!

Take Care All!

Today I called home from the store to ask a question. Faith answered the phone and said, Daddy is in the bathroom. I told her it's Mommy. She said Mommy is at the store. It took a bit to convince her I was Mommy! The question was for her anyway, so I asked whether she wanted Cinderella invitations for her birthday party or Barbie. She chose Cinderella, I never did have to talk with Daddy! That was her first totally independent phone conversation! DH didn't hear the phone and wasn't sure she had really had a conversation until I got home.
