Guest guest
More then a couple of people have asked general questions about SCD- The Specific Carbohydrate Diet- that my daughter, and a few others here, are using. I really need to write a long explanation as to why SCD can be so good the kids who have GERD, constipation, food allergy, Celiac, thyroid, autoimmune issues, seizures, ASD, malabsortion, yeast over growth and who knows what else... the gut is really the powerhouse of the body, and when it fails, it can cause so many problems else where in the body. Even sleep is affected by the gut! It produces something like 85% of our serotonin and if it's busy being sick, production drops and you start having sleep/depression problems. Anyway- one big plus to SCD is the diet is VERY VERY easy to digest and does not need a lot of help from a wounded gut, or in the case of some our kids, a gut that doesn't work all that well and is slow to move things through. There are some things in the file section that I posted below including 'official' sites to read more about it, the book you would want to buy etc. If you still have more questions after reading and looking things over- Ask away :-) Down Syndrome Treatment/files/Diet%20Information/Specific%20Carbohydrate%20Diet/Carol in IL Mom to seven including , 6 with TOF, AVcanal, GERD, LS, Asthma, subglottal stenosis, chronic constipation ( cured now ) and DS. My problem is not how I look. It's how you see me. Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min.
