I love Costco for glasses! They have a wonderful 1 year warranty on their

frames, which I have used...with no questions asked. I buy frames and

lenses for my kids for around $80.

Kathy R posted several years back about using Payless Optical and

we've used them ever since. I believe they sell frames and lenses

both for something like $49.99 -- a real bargain nowadays. I always

use my optometrist for the exam and then take the prescription to

Payless. I think you can look them up and see if there are any near

you. Others might chime in --there may be others in other places?

Even Walmart or somewhere is usually cheaper than your optometrist

--I get my daughter's contacts at Sam's Club. I do like to get that

exam at a doctor I know is good.

Hi Priscilla - We don't have the payless here. I just want to make sure I go to a reputable place that will fit her properly (my concern with Walmart). I already have her prescription from a very good optometrist that works with children. I think I may gove the costco a try. Girl, I wish you were in Texas. We have a place

thats specialty is children with disabilities. I am

not sure what the cheapest pricing is but the ones we

got were $149 bucks and they have a 2 year

warranty!!!! They replace EVERYthing on it twice for

free. Its real nice. By the time the warranty is up

then its time for a new pair anyway..... They

personally fit them. They even have this pair that

you seriously bend and twist in all directions and

nothing happens. THey are like 350.00 buck! She even

stepped on them....

We still use Payless…all 9 members of our family wear contacts

and/or glasses, and Payless has saved us a bundle. Our Payless has an optometrist,

and everyone but Danny gets their eye exams w/him. Danny goes to an ophthalmologist,

and we get the prescription filled at Payless. I did try WalMart once, but I didn’t

like the one here..the glasses were too big, and his lenses got clouded up after

a few times of cleaning them. Other people really like WalMart, though.

I use Wal-Mart for myself and Mac (8 yrs.)--I tried Kit, but the frames just didn't fit right and they didn't really have any suggestions. Plus, she REFUSES to wear them without direct supervision so I also want ones that are more difficult for her to get off so I'm looking at the ones with the ear wrap-around thingys--Wal-Mart doesn't have those. We just went today to pick out her new glasses (after trying 3 different pairs at Wal-Mart) from an actual optometry place. They will cost me about $219--but I'll have a year warranty and they are local--her first glasses we got from our opthamologists office and I was driving 60 miles one way to have her glasses adjusted/repaired--that is for the birds, especially when they needed adjusting weekly!!

Good luck--it can be a challenge.

Where ever you do go to buy the glasses, you can then take them back to your optomotrist or opthomologist to make sure the RX is correct. Do it! Faith had the wrong RX for 6 months, I had no way of knowing until we returned to the doctor and they said it was totally wrong in one eye! No wonder she wouldn't keep them on. Medicaid covered the glasses but only through that one provider. I have paid for the glasses since that occurance.

It definitely does happen, I've found a number of mistakes on the part of the optical places since I've been in practice.

Its in Fort Worth but its called 5th Aveune eye wear!

I can't tell you how wonderful they are. Maybe if you

came up for a fitting all you would have to do is send

it to them for repairs? The only time we don't get it

back same day is if they have to order a new frame but

sometimes they have that frame in the back and its a

matter of minutes.... Wonderful Wonderful

Wonderful!!! I hope you can take advantage...

Thanks, , for the information. I just got back in town from vacation, so sorry for the delayed reply. I am rarely in Ft. Worth, actually, more in Plano visiting two sisters if I'm up that direction.

Take care!
