OT- My new favorite thing!!

My new favorite thing is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Oh my! they clean everything with no odor or residue or chemicals.

I cleaned my white kitchen floor and it was white again.

I cleaned the kids swing set and play stuff outside and they were like new.

I cleaned my shower/tub with no scum left.

Not a lot of elbow grease needed either.

If you haven't tried them do so you will not be sorry.

I finally broke down and bought some of those

new fangled microfiber rags for cleaning... and WOW.

I should have bought them ages ago.

I have been using these for 3 or 4 years. I probably have at least 300.

No kidding.

..weird, I know. :-)

If you feel weird, how do you think those of us who watched it feel? ;-) Actually I was

curious as to what song you put with it. Quite appropriate.

I bought some 'tide to go' yesterday :-) gets lots of stains on her clothes eating all those fruits/veggies. Looking forward to giving it a try!

I too love Mr. Clean Erasers. They do seem to work like magic and I thought they were pretty benign until someone on the pool forum mentioned they contained formaldehyde and cyanide when someone suggested using on their pool tiles!

This was the only info I could find and it doesn't seem all that toxic to me so I don't plan on tossing mine. ;-) I have always rinses the area I cleaned anyway as it sometimes leave s white residue.

300?!?!? LOL Oh my!! Where is the cheapest place to get them and are there differences between them? I noticed the car supply store carries some different weights and they were cheaper then the discount store- guess guys won't shell out for rags like us ladies? <g>

I had put the cemetary tour up for my extended family. Hadn't really thought about other people watching it. But you know I was reading a booklet about things to do in Chicago and one of the items was a tour of a 150 year old cemetary! I know I am not the only weirdo out there.... my poor kids had to listen to all the stories about each person, and in the Jordan one, that is about half the people there. Long visit....

My mom used to play that song on the piano. :-) It's a WWII song from her youth. So it was really the 'only' choice. :-)

And she is the one who got us kids hooked on cemataries too... my Dad thought they were just plain morbid. LOL

Well, I guess I intentionally forgot to mention I clean 12 - 15 houses

and businesses per week.

I have not noticed any great difference in the quality of the ones I

have tried. Some are supposed to be exclusively for glass but I don't

think they are any better than the regular microfiber. The best place I

have found to buy them is Costco. It has been a while since I have

bought any though. If my memory serves me correctly, they were $9.99 for

two dozen cloths. Avoid bleaching them unless really necessary. It

breaks down the fiber. I pretty much have to bleach mine because of

going house to house and I do not wash them every day, but if I were

just using them at home I would not bleach them. You also should not use

fabric softener or dryer sheets. If you have alot of glass to clean, you

can run some warm water in the sink with a little dish detergent, wet

the cloth and wring it out really good. Twist it rather than just

squeeze it. Get all the water out that you can. This works great for

mirrors and glass. No other cleaner is necessary.

the hassle of dragging out the electric vac. It is made of good quality

but light and easy to maneuver. It has a detachable handheld piece

Some people do not like canisters. If you are used to an upright, they

may take some getting used to but you will probably never go back to an

upright. They are easier on your back and are much more versatile. They

can do things that an upright simply cannot. It is very easy to go from

carpet/rugs to bare floors. It has a quick release foot pedal that you

can step on to release the power head from the wand. No need to bend

over. Then you can just stick it back on, also without bending over.

This is great to get up to the edge of baseboards, cobwebs, crumbs on

the couch, behind and around furniture where the powerhead won't fit.

The newest models also have an onboard storage for the little sidekick

power attachment. It can be used on stairs, upholstered furniture and

car interiors. The newer models also now have a telescopic wand. I have

not used one with this feature. It would probably not be worth the extra

I agree - the Kenmore Progressive is great -- other vacs before (hate the

bagless!!) seemed to last just a couple of years (had 1 Dirt Devil that didn't

make it to a year and this is just at home) but my Kenmore is at around 7 years

right now!!

Wow.. thanks for all that cleaning advice and recomendations! I LOVE anything that makes that horrible chore go faster so I can go and play. :-)

I have not had sucess getting some inks out either. Even with hairspray. I just read alcholol can work. I know it works to take ink off your hands very easily.

Another thing I can't get out is some tempra paints! Even the washable ones. She got black on a white blouse that you would think would have been a slam dunk with bleach, but nope. Odd thing is the twins got some on my good couch ( yes I also have a really 'bad' one) and it came right out with the carpet cleaner! Go figure??? Stain release on the couch maybe?
