Guest guest
Hi: I participated in the teleconference with Dr. Talpaz and Dr. Giles sponsored by the leukemia society and BMS. Of course, they are hopeful that we will be able to live normal lifespans. They are very clear about their support of gleevec. For those resistant, Talpaz and Giles indicated Phase 2 trials are open for BMS and also AMN I believe. One thing I heard loud and clear was the fact that we CMLers do not always take the drug as prescribed and we might skip days or weeks. From time, I have taken a couple of days off or something like that. Dr. Giles indicated that on average CMLers are taking the gleevec only 270 days a year--so some of us are being delinquent. Hope some of the rest of you tuned into the teleconference. If there's other important information, please add to the list. Thanks, MJH
