Hello,

I am just reading my mail and am catching up on some things. So here goes

Re: Fat Malabsorption

Fat malabsorption can be a big problem for anyone that has it. Regardless of

whether the person has DS or not. The simplest way to test for this is a test

that my father went through called the 100 gram fat diet test. What you do is

keep track of your fat intake for 3-5 days, making sure to eat at least 100

grams of fat daily. You also collect all sdtool passed during this period in

big metal cans and turn them in to your local lab where they will analyze the

fat content to see if it is too high, indicating malabsorption.. You will

probably get more details from your physician or a dietician he will have you

xconsult with.

Re: Sleep studies

I ha one and they are quite adventureous...lol. Makes for a long night for

both patient and family. Mine was not due to possible T & A, but I would bet

it is very probable that some insurances require them before T & A surgery,

albeit it would be easier to just pay the surgery as sleep studies are about

$2000 each. Also though, I am sure that some physicians like them before and

after the surgery to see if it worked.
