Guest guest
I saw this commercial last year but it seems to me that she was shown more as a case manager than a sister. None of us remember that she was his sister. I LOVE the commercial, it shows that there IS an independent life for our children in their future and I loved the sister aspect of it..her being proud of him because you know she was there all along as he grew up and saw how hard he had to struggle to get where he is. (I KNOW, I KNOW! They are just actors....but as a MOM, that is what I read into it.) And, of course, being a Hallmark commercial, it made me cry and showing DS in a positive light made me cry even more!!

Guest guest
I loved it....I missed the very beginning. I've only seen it once during a Hallmark movie. ---------- > From: JB66111@... > egroups > Subject: Hallmark > Date: Wednesday, December 13, 2000 12:50 PM > > Have any of you seen the Hallmark commercial about the young man with DS > showing off his apartment to his sister? I liked it...but those types of commercials make me teary eyed! How is ? Does his own place have meaning to him or does he like to live with Mom? If I had been smarter...I would not have been so anxious to move out. Gail
Guest guest
I did manage to be watching when the commercial played. It was good--the independence angle, the man's pride in his new place, his cooking dinner for them (realistic in that it's just soup). Got a kick out of the fact that in showing the sister his apartment, his TV got billing with major rooms (that sure is Jessie's attitude). Fascinated by his speech abilities--even if he was supposed to be in his 30's! Also liked the final line where he says he's proud of his sister--that was a nice touch of not just family support but equality--the empowering of the man with ds to reciprocate pride, to make that judgement. Real good. Judi Re: Hallmark I saw this commercial last year but it seems to me that she was shown more as a case manager than a sister. None of us remember that she was his sister. Guest guest
The woman in the commercial is definitely his sister. In the beginning of the commerical she is talking to a coworker and she tells him that her brother is moving out on his own. I like the commercial too. R.
