Judi, I would be so ambivalent about this one, too. I think is

going to have a cell phone that she MUST carry with her at all times when

she goes away to college next year. My question (for myself and you) is

what can you do?? If she is going to have an x-ray and a possible cast, all

you can do is sit and hold her hand?? Sounds like she's doing the right

thing. I'd call for an update and then decide.

You're right--there is nothing I could especially do there that I can't do

here. But I'd be THERE, ya know?

Having heard the explanation of the injury and how nonchalant she is about

it, I'm not so sure that it's that serious, although I'm not thrilled that

she is ending up waiting until tomorrow to get it xrayed. I thought breaks

should be set as soon as possible, but can a break in the foot even be set?

At any rate, here's the explanation--I'm still checking to see exactly who

Bobby is! And wondering how she can possibly be passing any classes if she

writes like this! ;o)

<< he wasnt on the bed... we were beating each other up in the hall way and

i

think when he stepped on the foot that he cracked it then later when i

jumped off the bunk bed i didnt land right and i think that might have

broken it... either that or it broke when i stumped it.>>

Let her handle this on her own. If it is broken, you may want to send a

little basket of flowers and maybe some extra $ for stuff she may need to buy

for her foot. I know its hard to sit home when a baby has been hurt..but we

have to remember that our babies are adults and need to become as independent

as possible (yea...right!!...lol)

:-) we'll make sure to remind you of that whenever you need us to . LOL

But I do agree with you, I'm sure she'll do fine handling it on her own.

She is NOT! Only turned 18 last week! ;o)

You should have read the e-mail Ralph sent--a list of insurance info

followed by " let us know how it goes. " There's a caring parent!

Judi,

I would think that you would punish any child of yours who writes so

inattentively by making her do that transformational grammar diagramming

thingy on the whole " paragraph " ! ;-)

lol! I wish! Actually, you could use descriptive transformational

generative nesting to analyze that para- uh, sent-- uh, group of clauses and

phrases. But why would you want to? Maybe I can embarrass her into

restating whatever it was she was trying to communicate.

Gee, show people on this list one simple example of grammar

deconstructionalism and they never forget! ;o)
