This will be a special thanksgiving for us. Jan is recovering better

than we could have hoped for, even though there are still some dark

clouds. Perhaps the thing the summer has taught us is how much she has

enriched not only our lives, but the lives of many others.

We will have Jan and her two brothers home for hte holiday along with my

sister and her family. I'll have to find a turkey and the trimmings

tomorrow with Jan, once I get home from the trip I'm on.

And thanks to all of you out there who are part of our lives.

I am thankful for my happy and healthy kids and husband(healthy and sometimes

happy, LOL).

Spending turkey day with my family which I am very thankful for. I am not

crazy about all the Italian food served at the in-laws.

My mom will make potato dumplings, homemade stuffing, squash casserole,

broccoli and cheese casserole, creamed spinach(from scratch - I'm actually

making this dish), sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows (I'm

making this too!), cranberry sauce, stringbean salad, mashed turnips and of

course TURKEY!!!!

OMG, I can't wait!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

HI :)

I must give Thanks to my wonderful family :) This year we have a new member

Baby Tate aka Tater-Tot :) I also have a new group of ladies that I have met

through my church.....I call them my Prayer Warriors (for my family heehee)

I have so much to be thankful for that Ill just list them, you all knew them

as vents through the year lol I thank each of you for listening :)

NOW......

-for Sara's sass...... without it, I would never know her need to be heard

-for Sara's whit....... without it, she'd be totally dependent on ME

-for Sara's defiance.......without it, I would never know she had her own

choices

-for Sara's anger....... the flip side is her power to Love

-for Sara's illnesses........without it I would never have known the depth of

my

strength

I have many things to be thankful for and this year my whole family will be

together at my MIL's house. I will be taking my new single Mom with us :)

No cooking for me on this day and I have no idea what we will be eating

Heehee but I imagine it will be something fancy since my MIL is entertaining

my Mom lololol you all know how that it is

I am thankful for my 6 children, my job, my husband, my home, my friends and

every day given to me. I'm also thankful I've trimmed down,

eh Arlene ;-). I'm thankful my friend's children are alive and her husband

too and I'm thankful to have known her, but I will miss her. And I'm

thankful to all of you for acknowledging her tragic, untimely death. I'm

thankful my children wear seatbelts; did not, nor did her children,

only her husband.

I am preparing Thanksgiving dinner in my home (as usual)and it's a very

traditional dinner (IMHO). My daughter and her husband will join us as will

3 of our friends from NY who have no family here, so there will be 12 at our

Thanksgiving table(s) and always open for anyone else at the last minute.

I start the day early in the morning, preparing the turkey with stuffing

<grin>, mine is a bit different than most as I add a few raisins to the

bread cubes moistened with turkey stock from the giblets and also add an egg

(scrambled lightly, sautéed onions and celery in butter.

I also make a baked ham (because I'm Italian - I like a lot of food - well,

that's part of it; the rest of the truth is I go shopping Friday after

Thanksgiving and I don't want to have to worry about dinner the next day (or

lunch), so leftovers consist of 2 kinds of meats.

I have mashed potatoes (of course), gravy, corn, green bean casserole,

candied sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping, potato salad, deviled eggs,

a relish tray of celery sticks, carrot sticks, pickles & olives, cranberry

sauce (the yucky canned junk), but I make a fresh cranberry/orange relish as

well as from scratch bran muffins, pumpkin pie, bread pudding, Russian cream

for dessert and spinach dip and Italian Torta for appetizers.

We start our meal with our prayer (led by , he INSISTS), and then go

around the table with everyone saying 1 thing they are thankful for and dig

in. We go for a walk, to a movie, bowling and sometimes even shopping after

dinner. We usually end the evening playing a board game, lately it's

Cranium, until everyone is hungry for a turkey sandwich.

We pretty much repeat everything at Xmas and I love it!

Well, I don't do thanks giving being british but we do celebrate at this

time of the year. Three times over, one party a week for three weeks.

People ask me from October onwards if I am ready for Christmas yet?!! I like

to get these birthdays over with first tho before I even think about

christmas which is probably why every year christmas shopping is rushed and

Naomis promised cross stitch advent calender still needs finishing!!

Honestly, who in their right mind would plan to have three kids born within

three weeks of each other 6 weeks away from the major festival of their

caleneder?!! So what do we do? I bake cakes and decorate them with fondant

icing, Naomi had pink piggy bank with money pouring out of it, Ben had a

" death by chocolate " cake and Tim had a ball pool cake (great fun to make!).

Naomi had 10 girl friends over for tea, Ben took 3 mates bowling and had a

sleep over, Tim went to " little monkeys " fun house with 10 other children.

I am now having a breather before embarking on the christmas shopping,

hopefully in a couple of weeks time.

All this talk of thankfulness, I thought of something I am really thankful

for. Other than a short (4 days or so) cold over half term has not

been ill since August, he has no time, thats zero days, off school for ill

health. Last school year he had 45 half days off, the year before it was 50

something. I took a job this september in faith that his health would

improve becoz on past record it looked a bit grim and only faith would do

it! The job is going well, I might even get paid next week (heres hoping!).

> What do you have to be thankful for this year?

I am thankful for my husband of fourteen years who still makes me laugh, and

my children who also make me laugh. I am thankful that the only doctor's

appointment we've had recently is for a sinus infection for (and I am

thankful for Amoxicillin). I am thankful that the kids have healthy, local

grandparents. And I am thankful that my daughter is 3 1/2 years old and I

can occasionally reason with her when she doesn't get her way. Almost

forgot...I am so thankful for this list!

> What traditions will you celebrate?

One of my favorite traditions takes place the day after thanksgiving. We

always make our " black Friday hoagies. " Basically it is a hoagie roll

stuffed with leftover turkey, stuffing, cranberry (from a can of course) and

Hellman's mayonaise...warmed slightly in the microwave. Delicious!!!

> Stuffing or Dressing? What kind?

Either regular celery/onion stuffing or sausage stuffing. My stomach is

now growling and my mouth is watering! Hey , you didn't give us YOUR

, my late husband was from England and as near as I could figure out his

mother cooked a large roast on Sunday and then used it up different ways all

week. I never really heard about anything special. He lived in temporary

" digs " a lot and got more variety of foods but never talked about them much.

One thing we all like is Yorkshire pudding which is the same as popovers, but

baked in a cake pan. Great with gravy. What I got a kick out of was he

said over there corn is for chickens and pigs, etc., not something people

eat. But for years he ate corn flakes for breakfast. Finally one day when

it hit me the wrong way I asked what he thought corn flakes were made of. He

never ate them again, which was a bit of a nuisance because that was simpler

than finding other things for him. But I still thought it was funny. Jessie

I have many things to be thankful for this season. First, my girls are

both healthy and adorable...well, most of the time ;)

Next, I'm thankful for all my friends here on the list. You all really

are my life-line, as you proved during my recent " crisis " . Things are

working out well, but I'm still a little shaky about believing things

are ok.

Lastly, I'm thankful to have a warm home, full tummy, and the love of my

family.

We are going to my mom's for Thanksgiving on Thursday. I really wanted

to fix the turkey here, but my dad refuses to eat at my house, because I

have a cat. Yes, I'm from a very dysfunctional family lol. Sooo, I

bought the turkey anyway, and I'll fix turkey, dressing, baked sweet

potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn pudding, hot rolls and pumpkin

pie for Sunday.

Where I come from dressing is made with cornbread and stuffing is wet

croutons (like stove top).

Hey, we DO eat corn, sweetcorn, corn on the cob, pop corn, creamed corn, I

have even been known to make cornbread (don't see the attraction tho having

made it!!). Theres more to corn than cornflakes, unless of course there is

other types of corn too!! Actually I did once see some strange coloured

corns when we were in the states but personally I like my corn off the cob,

and yellow.

There are many things for which I am thankful for this year. I am thankful

that I have been blessed with the privilege to be a mother to 3 wonderful and

healthy children.

I am thankful for my husband for sharing this marvelous roller coaster called

" parenting. " He provides me with his strength and sense of humor to stomach

the dips in that sometimes out of control roller coaster.

I am deeply thankful for my family and the opportunity to have my father with

us this Thanksgiving. It has been quite a rough few months for him health

wise, and there have been many times that we didn't think he would be with us

this holiday season.....I thank God for giving us some more time with him as

we continue down this road :*)

I am thankful for this list and the many friends I have on it...you have

listened to my hopes, my fears and my frustrations without judgment and

always a firm shoulder.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am thankful for my five girls and a wonderful husband ( our 15th

aniversary is 11-30). Our two dogs, our extended families, friends, our

church , our kid's schools, 's therapists, our peditrician, and a

warm climate ( my two year old would never be able to survive in a cold

climate with her asthma).

I cook for my family and my parents and this year we are having friends (

and maybe my sister and her new husband). So I could be cooking for 20 or

so. And none of it comes from a box. I make every ones favorites so I

started cooking yesterday. Cranberries ( my husband is from New

England). turkey, sausage and apple- cranberry dressing, cream cheese

mash potatoes, praline sweet potatoes, corn pudding, pearl onions, green

bean casserole ( made with sour cream and swiss cheese instead of the

mushroom soup), peacan pie, and pumpkin pie.

We also go to Mass at our church it is always out doors ( some thing you

can do here in Az) and it is so beautiful because for the offering ,every

body brings food for our church's soup kitchen.

had eye surgery today. They tried to open her tear ducts because

they get clogged and infected all the time. Oh my I was not prepared for

this. the eye doctor said she would be out for 15 minutes or so and maybe

she would have a bloody nose. Well the ducks were so small they could not

get the tube through the passage way and so he had to push some kind of

air warming cartilage out of the way and then was able to clear the ducks

but the tube was way to big. But any way is continued to bleed

through her nose alll day and has two black eyes. She looks like some one

beat her up ( I won't be surprised if some one at Mass tomorrow doesn't

report me to CPS). THe doctor felt really bad because he had no idea how

small these ducts were until he got in there. But he is not confident

that the procedure worked so they may have to do some thing else more

involved like rebuilding the whole tear duct, but I don't want to think

about that today. My poor baby is in so much pain and she is tring very

hard to be a happy camper and I am tring to cook through all of this. But

as they say that which does not kill you .....

I wish all of you a wonderful holiday. And once I get through this

holiday I can really get started on Christmas. Thanks for listening.

I am grateful that I have four days totally off...that I can spend lovely

quality time with my little ones, that my home is warm and as someone else

said we are having this presidential stuff and are NOT deciding it with guns

in the streets....... I'm thankful that my life is alot different than last

year at this time.

The kids and I and Jim are going to the Zoo in the AM and even though we are

vegetarians I am cooking a turkey because is amazed at the

possibilities of making a wish on the wish bone..........Meghan will just

love to have my total attention for four days and I have lots of logs for the

fireplace (YES...even in Arizona a fire is a magical moment)..........I wish

you all the same!!!
