I talked to another community leader on AOL who does stuff for HomeTown and he told me that they are getting our addresses from web sites we visit. I have not been on any naughty web sites, just search sites, newspapers, etc. Hopefully AOL will find a way to block that soon!! I've had several people come to me lately about those darn Internet AOL Im's....sigh!

Guest guest
I had one recently asking me if I wanted to see Britney Spears chest?! That is pretty rare though. Usually they come in the form of emails not IM's. We get a few/day. I keep accusing dh of visiting naughty sites, lol. Since Sammi and I are always on line he would like to know how he could visit ANY site! Guest guest
, I'm not kidding, they are getting it from the member profiles! If you are on AOL, do yourself a favor and delete your member profile. What they do is this...they search for females in a given area, and IM those who are online right then. When you look at a list of members (say you have searched for references to the Grateful Dead, lol), there is a red triangle next to those who are currently online. Delete your profile...take care, In a message dated 08/16/2000 3:25:24 PM Pacific Daylight Time, c1ndysue1@... writes: << Kathy...these IMs have driven me nuts lately..just in the past two weeks. Delete >> , Wonder if just deleting my location would work? Probably not since alot of the spam mail I receive has C1ndysue, C1ndysue1, C1ndysue12, etc......lol. I know what you are talking about...that would explain it. Guess I need to search AOL's AIM to see how folks search there in comparison to plain ole AOL. After 7 years, I am ready to throw the towel in with AOL. Just this month we received yet another charge on our visa for something through AOL we did not order..sigh. I hate deleting my profile. Someone told me today of a good free email program available that is " pretty " clean. its something with One in it...the guy was going to email me the site where I can download it. Guest guest
I have a friend who used to just type " NCS " and reply only that. I guess it means " No Cyber-sex " and they know you are *boring* and leave you alone. I guess you could even type the phrase out in case they are really stupid?! Good luck. This seems like an invasion, the people can reach you like that without your permission! I don't have IMs, so I haven't experienced this except when I have been at my friend's on line with her, but when I get spam like this, it makes me sick!
