Guest guest
You are describing what they call a shotzky ring, which often gets re-dx-ed as eosinophilic esophagitis if the GI is smart enough to do biopsies on the scope. - osdbmom <osdbmom@...> wrote: Heres a question: when you are swallowing a food or drink, and it feels like it gets stuck(even if it is just water), you cant swallow, and in order to be able to swallow/breathe again, you have to throw up(and the food that comes up--so sorry, I know this is gross--is pretty much still intact, and shooting straight out from your throat, not your stomach).....would you think that is really nasty reflux, or something else? Guest guest
Hi Valarie!! Sounds like what Blake's dad had....Hiatal Hernia. Blake also had this. His pushed his esophagus over & caused everthing to be refluxed!!(Blake that is) (Blake's Dad) also had it last yr. & it HAD to be repaired. It got to the point he could eat nothing without what you described!!!! You can google Hiatal Hernia & get what it is & how best to treat before it gets too unbearable. But also in the same note, make sure it is NOT an Ulcer. Hope this helps some!!! mom to Blake 16, Severe Combined Immunodeficiency with Complete T-Cell Dysfunction, Sub-Q 2x's weekly doing LOTS better since being on Gammagard S/D for sub-q!!!! http://www3.caringbridge.org/sc/blakester The Greatest Adventure of MY Lifetime!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ osdbmom <osdbmom@...> wrote: Heres a question: when you are swallowing a food or drink, and it feels like it gets stuck(even if it is just water), you cant swallow, and in order to be able to swallow/breathe again, you have to throw up(and the food that comes up--so sorry, I know this is gross--is pretty much still intact, and shooting straight out from your throat, not your stomach).....would you think that is really nasty reflux, or something else? Guest guest
---ok........honestly, what Im afraid of is that my dr will tell me its anxiety(again). This has been off and on for....oh, two months maybe? and for a couple weeks, maybe, things are fine, then suddenly, this is really bad for a while. I had an endoscopy about a 1 1/2 yrs. ago, and the dr said I had a hiatal hernia, but nothing was to be done about it. I also have reflux, but I dont take the meds like I should. Thanks for the feedback. *sigh* With four kids, three with CVID, all with asthma and other issues, plus me......Im just so sick of going to the dr. I feel like Im showing up every week with a new *problem*. Its getting to be ridiculous. thanks again, valarie In , s <momtoboywholoveshisgoats@...> wrote: > > Hi Valarie!! > > Sounds like what Blake's dad had....Hiatal Hernia. > Blake also had this. Guest guest
They can't dx EE unless they do an endoscopy (with biopsies). It's also less likely to be dx-ed correctly if you are an adult. My husband and his sister's EE both include the hiatal hernia, but that is not what causes the stuck food. In their case It was initially called a shotzky ring, then ffinally dx-ed properly as EE when my daughter got the dx herself (her condition looked like GERD from the scope, but the biopsies proved otherwise). That made it more difficult for their own GIs to argue (both originally said biopsies were not necessary). Guest guest
, You are correct! My son has EE, as well as EC. The only way to dx is scoping and biopies. It took 9 years of having doctors look at me like I was nuts before one finally took me seriously that there really was a problem. The symptoms Valarie described are very familiar to me. Please do not think I was being flip with her. She has sent me loads of recipes ( safe). I apologized to her. And if I offended anyone here, please accept my apologies. Guest guest
--- Meg.......you didnt say/do anything wrong or offensive, so dont think that at all. I asked.....it was answered. Its something I should know better than to wait on.......but you know me. Once its over, I dont want to deal with it anymore, so I dont do anything about it. Until it happens again. Whats aggravating, is that its not ever the same foods/drinks, and has no pattern. I might be fine for two weeks, then have this trouble daily for a while. If you had said anything rude, I would force you to apologize(grin), but you didnt, so dont feel like you did. valarie In , " megoonie99 " <megoonie99@...> wrote: > > , > > You are correct!
